Found this word in the dictionary meaning the warmth of the sun on a winters day. Thinking it would make an excellent unusual girls name, particularly one born in the winter months. Thoughts?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Nefelibata86 · 08/05/2020 05:42

It’s one of m6 favourite words. It could work though could be tedious having to explain it all the time?

Ironicpentameter · 08/05/2020 05:50

I like the sentiment behind it but the word itself has quite a brittle sound to it to my ears.

Booboostwo · 08/05/2020 05:52

I don’t like it as a word. It’s not difficult to pronounce but it is awkward.

Also every single time she says her name she will be asked to repeat it a couple of times and maybe even spell it out before anyone understands what she is saying. A massive hassle.

geojojo · 08/05/2020 05:56

I love the meaning. Really dislike the sound of the word though which is a shame.

Coldhandscoldheart · 08/05/2020 06:01

It’s a lovely meaning, but tbh it sounds to me like two corporate companies have merged and chosen a new name.

Nquartz · 08/05/2020 06:01

It's not a name! I agree that it sounds harsh & she'll spend the rest of her life spelling/explaining or give herself a nickname.

tara66 · 08/05/2020 06:03

No, no, NO!

Travelledtheworld · 08/05/2020 06:03

Heck no everyone will just assume it's a spelling mistake.
It's pretentious.Don't.

msmith501 · 08/05/2020 06:09

Shell be called Prissy or worse Pissy. It also sounds like a disease of some sort - a dose of apricity or maybe a type of cream for piles.

Gingerkittykat · 08/05/2020 06:11

A nice mix of ape and electricity!

MaxiPaddy · 08/05/2020 06:12

Ugh. God no.

Magicbabywaves · 08/05/2020 06:15

So you didn’t know the word before you found it in the dictionary?

Most people won’t know it and they’ll struggle to pronounce/hear it. Given no one cares what a name means consider that before you choose it.
Alternatively, give her the name Petrichor or callipygian.

Dinosauraddict · 08/05/2020 06:16

Actually I think it's beautiful. Probably Prissy for a nn though.

GoFiguire · 08/05/2020 06:17

Is this the new Keanu?

PeppaisaBitch · 08/05/2020 06:19

There are so many beautiful names. Why chose a random word that isn't a name.

Mummyoflittledragon · 08/05/2020 06:28

April and Avril, yes. Apricity Would be a hell of a burden imo.

A PRE CITY think what fun the bullies could have with that!

Unusual names can be lovely but make sure they aren’t unusual for all the wrong reasons. I think it’s on apar with Apple and other bullshit names.

TonyChestnut · 08/05/2020 06:29

Is that you Gwyneth?

Celticdawn5 · 08/05/2020 06:33

No.too awkward to say and a lifetime of having to spell her name out to receptionists/telephone etc (speaking as one who has to do this time and time again )

MysteriesOfTheOrganism · 08/05/2020 06:40

Good word, terrible name. Sorry, OP.

BelfastNonBlonde · 08/05/2020 06:41

It looks like a mistake

Carrie7469 · 08/05/2020 06:42

It sounds like an electricity company

babynamelover · 08/05/2020 06:46

Not good, sorry.

JudyCoolibar · 08/05/2020 06:56

tbh it sounds to me like two corporate companies have merged and chosen a new name.

This

overnightangel · 08/05/2020 06:59

Sounds like a medical condition

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 08/05/2020 07:01

Sounds like a brand of yoghurt.

All joking aside, I consider myself to be well read and I’ve never heard this word before and on first glance thought it a combination of April and Felicity. Eeeek.
