Which name do you prefer, honest opinions please! :)
Leila will be pronounced Lay-la
Amira will be pronounced Ameeeeera

they're both lovely! which is better depends on the surname although you probably don't want to say that here.

orangedod · 07/05/2020 08:46

Leila but I'd pronounce that spelling Lee-la. Might just be me.

peperethecat · 07/05/2020 09:45

I love Leila (also really like the spelling Laila). But Amira is also very pretty.

I don't think you can go wrong with either of these really.

DoctorBambino · 07/05/2020 10:10

Leila 100%

Marlena1 · 07/05/2020 10:15

Both are gorgeous but (could be wrong here) I would think Amira is slightly more unusual if that's what you wanted.

123Dancewithme · 07/05/2020 11:27

I prefer Amira.

NameChange84 · 07/05/2020 11:29

Amira is more unusual imo.

I also prefer the Laila spelling.

LotusClover · 07/05/2020 11:30

I think I like Amira best, it's really pretty. Leila is nice too but I prefer the spelling Layla.

Charis1503 · 07/05/2020 11:30

Id spell it Laila if you want 'Lay-la'
Leila i would also pronounce 'lee-la'

I dont like Amira - I think its a bit cheep and chavvy Blush

Laila is gorgeous.

JingsMahBucket · 07/05/2020 11:46

Keep the spelling of Leila. That’s the correct spelling and it is easy to pronounce. :)

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 07/05/2020 11:48

Amira.

I'd probably choose Leila, but Amira is nice as well.

whichteaareyou · 07/05/2020 13:35

Amira! Such a beautiful name

myangelalex · 07/05/2020 13:41

Amira is a more Asian name, so if this is your ethnicity it would sound right. Amira Smith wouldn't sound right to me, Leila is fine too. Both lovely names.

CurlyEndive · 07/05/2020 13:42

Leila

Millie272020 · 07/05/2020 16:04

Thank you so much everyone! What sort of person would you associate Amira vs. Leila with? Are they strong names in your opinion?

I think Amira sounds more obviously Arabic, if that makes any difference. Like, if I was told I was about to meet someone called Amira I would be very surprised if she turned out to be a caucasian Amira Smith, whereas if I was told I was about to meet someone called Leila I would have fewer preconceptions about their ethnicity because I know it's an Arabic name but I've also met white British girls called Leila.

I don't know if that would factor into your decision making process either way.

I think both Leila and Amira are good names though, strong and feminine. I think they would suit any kind of personality, and any age.
