Imo I like them all but if I had to choose my favourites I would go with:

Julia
Jennifer
Joanna

I think those are gorgeous names Smile

BayHorse · 04/05/2020 22:51

I have a 3.5 month old Daphne. I also love Caroline.

peperethecat · 05/05/2020 09:04

I love this list.

Anna - Perfect, one of my favourite names.
Caroline - Lovely, underused, due a comeback.
Jane - Why not? Would be very refreshing, I think.
Louisa - This is my middle name and I really like it.
Julia - Lovely, classy.
Esther - Not so keen on this one. I don't like the way it sounds.
Daphne - Not a big fan of this one either, a bit old ladyish/cartoonish.
Mary - Really like it, think it could be very refreshing, like Jane.
Susanna (or Susannah) - Lovely and elegant.
Jennifer - OK, but possibly a bit too 1980s. Not really keen on Jenny as a nickname.
Margaret - Really like this, think it's definitely due a comeback and there are tons of great nickname options.
Joanna - Yes, I don't know why but I love the way it sounds.

Futurenostalgia · 05/05/2020 09:09

I like Anna, Caroline and Susannah.

I can see Jane making a comeback. It’s a nice change from the granny chic names like Ivy and Violet which are popular but I don’t like at all.

Dislike Margaret and Mary and Daphne is awful.

NameChange84 · 05/05/2020 09:13

Anna - Boring
Caroline - Really dislike this name!
Jane - Plain Jane, Boring.
Louisa - lovely, my favourite on the list
Julia - quite nice
Esther - really like this, cool, timeless
Daphne - cute
Mary - Ok
Susanna (or Susannah) - quite cute, prefer 1st spelling.
Jennifer - dated, boring
Margaret - making a comeback but don’t like it, harsh sounding.
Joanna - dated. Don’t like it.

Spied · 05/05/2020 09:17

Anna, Louisa and Esther are beautiful.
Daphne is due a comeback.
I think Margaret is too much for nowadays and not due to be back for a while...

Bluesponge · 05/05/2020 09:24

All of them are great names although Daphne may be seen as dated I’d say if you love it go for it 👍 but don’t worry about it I’ve had similar concerns

LotusClover · 05/05/2020 10:22

Anna, Caroline and Louisa are lovely. The rest are a bit dated for me, particularly Margaret.

Iwalkinmyclothing · 05/05/2020 10:24

Anna, Louisa, Julia, Susanna (or Susannah), Jennifer and Joanna are my favourites from your list. Jane is nice too but I can't think of if as anything other than a middle name (it's my middle name and the middle name of about half the women of my age apparently!)

Whatsyourflava · 05/05/2020 10:32

Margaret and Anna are my favourites

Blursula · 05/05/2020 10:43

I like Susanna but the rest seem very dated, plain and boring to me - sorry!

SecondStarFromTheRight · 05/05/2020 10:46

There's nothing on that list I'd say 'oooo what a beautiful name' but they are all nice.

NameChange84 · 05/05/2020 12:12

I should add the Baby Margarets I know at the moment (plus a Victoria) are all born to Hipster parents in Manchester and Cheshire. There’s honestly quite a few of them. I also know lots of little Irish Traveller Margarets!

SneakersandSocks · 05/05/2020 12:43

I like Anna , Daphne and Esther but I think the others sound abit plain and dated.

mamablondie2 · 05/05/2020 14:36

Personally I do find them all quite dated yes (sorry). Louisa is okay but a bit bland.

opensesameme · 05/05/2020 14:38

I know a Julia who is 4...it's a lovely name
Jennifer is lovely too.
Joanna is quite popular where I teach (age 7-10)
Louisa is lovely too

SarahTTCx · 07/05/2020 10:58

Maybe it is just my tatse, but i'd say the vast majority of these names are too dated. The worst by far are:

Margaret
Susanna(h)
Caroline
Daphne
Mary

I'd say they all sound like boring old aunties (sorry if that's a tad brutal). The rest are okay, but still rather old fashioned and not really in a nice way. The only one I think is okay is Julia really!

babynamelover · 07/05/2020 11:22

They are all okay, nothing really sparkles!

HalfTermHalfTerm · 07/05/2020 11:34

I like Margaret and I absolutely love Caroline. Anna is nice too. I’m not keen on Jennifer or Daphne and Jane is a bit ‘meh’.

Lots of really interesting women in history called Margaret although I guess as everyone was called Margaret so at least some of them had to be interesting which appeals to me!

Mucklowe · 07/05/2020 11:37

Anna - lovely.
Caroline - no.
Jane - in need of a revival!
Louisa - clunky.
Julia - snobby.
Esther - lovely.
Daphne - too fluffy and prissy.
Mary - nice.
Susanna (or Susannah) - ok.
Jennifer - too '80s.
Margaret - nice.
Joanna - nice, if you don't mind the inevitable Jo.

CountFosco · 07/05/2020 11:44

Great list. I like Anna, Caroline and Margaret best. Caroline is gorgeous and I love the NN Caro.

autumngold6 · 07/05/2020 12:02

Really like most of them but not keen on Daphne, Jennifer, Margaret and Joanna

Kokeshi123 · 07/05/2020 13:47

I like most of these, but Jennifer and Joanna are a bit too "every single women born in 1975" and Margaret----I can never quite look beyond the Thatched connotation. Otherwise, all very nice. I like Daphne and Mary in particular.

Kokeshi123 · 07/05/2020 13:48

Oh and Jane! So rarely used but such a chic, classy name.

IVflytrap · 07/05/2020 16:16

I don't think datedness is as a big a deal as people make it out to be. Emily was considered dated in the early 80s, Ava was dated in the 90s, Edie was dated 10 years ago. Now look at them. The current trendy names will be heavily associated with this era, but so what? Everything has some kind of association to it.

These are my favourites from your list:

Caroline
Jane
Julia
Esther
Daphne
