Middle name help

So I am set on the first name for my son (currently 22 weeks pregnant) and now need to choose a middle name. In my family it’s traditional for middle names to have a connection to someone (e.g my youngest child’s middle name is his great grandads name). So my two middle names are:

Edward - the name of a friend who committed suicide. He was one of my best friends and I miss him dearly but he died in such an awful way that I am not sure if I want that connection to my baby.

Adam - this baby was conceived via sperm donor and Adam is the fathers name.

I am not going to share the first name of my baby because I don’t want any negative comments. It’s a traditional biblical name though, nothing crazy. Both of the above names go with the first name quite well.

So which would you pick?

I would go with Edward - I think it's a really nice name, and although he died in such a tragic way, it's a lovely thing to do in his memory 🤍 I love it when middle names have meanings behind them

I think it depends whether or not you are a single parent. If you have a partner who will be the child's dad, then I think it would be weird to give your son the name of the sperm donor. But if you are having the child on your own, and you'd like the connection to the sperm donor to be public, then that feels quite different.

I think go for Edward. You remember your friend for being your friend and remember all his wonderful qualities that made him loved that you hope your DS will also have. How he died is irrelevant in this I think.

Edward - go for the person you knew best and loved (assuming you don't know SD).

I also think it's a nicer name than Adam - I wanted it for DS2 but was vetoed by DH.

Thank you for your replies. I think I was leaning towards Edward anyway so glad you all think the same.

I would pick Edward.

Your baby will be a beautiful way to celebrate all the good moments you shared with your friend and remember him in a positive way.

I think you should pick Edward. Perfect

You can have more than one middle name, or even none at all. Why not use both?

Edward
