Morning!
DH can't seem to agree on names for DD1. I like longer feminine sounding names (maybe a little frilly) and he likes short, feminine but simpler names. Can you think of any that we both may agree on? Aiming to me bottom of top 100 if not outside of.
TY x

What about a long name that can be shortened? For example:

Alexandra > Alex
Olivia > Liv
Arabella > Bella
Amelia - Millie/Amy/Mia

Clementine? Shortened to Clemmie?

87Callista · 02/05/2020 12:47

You could either go for something like Madeleine or Annalise and nn her Maddie/Anna. Or you could find a name somewhere between long and frilly and a short and simple?

Here's some ideas:
Roxanne
Mariah
Lydia
Roseanne
Eloise
Noelle
Maya
Estelle
Valerie
Lucy
Gwen
Harper
Caroline
Violet
Gina

Josephine /Josie, Posey or Jojo
Juliette/ Ettie, Jules?
Stephanie/Stevie, Annie
Georgina, Georgiana, Georgia - Georgia
Elizabeth / Libby, Beth, Lizzy etc etc etc
Thomasina /Tom
Franscesca /Frankie
Jasmine/Jazz

And so on. Lots of “frilly” girls names have simple, snappy abbreviations.

Do you have any examples of the names you and DH disagree on?

RickOShay · 02/05/2020 21:27

Emma is good call. Lovely name.

parkplace · 03/05/2020 09:20

@MaryHill yes, Felicity (which I don't think is a frilly name), Penelope, Theodora (which has come up on so many threads recently, and may put me off anyway), Octavia, Beatrix, Cecily. Not all my favourites but just to give you some examples.

I read through top names to get an idea of what he liked and he only said he liked Poppy and Lilly from the lists and I really don't like them Confused
