how would you pronounce it? I know there's not totally a 'correct' pn because we're not in france but the name is french etc, but how would you and which do you prefer?

Tine to rhyme with wine.

Had a tense conversation with another Clementine mother random friend of a friend who had gone for the teen pronunciation- we were never going to agree (or be friends for that matter)😁

SE13Mummy · 02/05/2020 18:14

Teen.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 02/05/2020 18:15

Tyne not teen

Shannith · 02/05/2020 18:20

It's tine. Though everyone pronounces it tyne which really surprised me.

Shannith · 02/05/2020 18:21

I mean it's teen not tine. Clementine - clue's in three spelling.

raindrop83 · 02/05/2020 18:50

I'm so confused reading this, it seems people even pronounce Clementine the fruit differently! 🤣

Neednewwellies · 02/05/2020 18:54

@Shannith, but tine and tyne sound the same. Confused
I’d pronounce it teen as in Mrs Churchill.

Hoggleludo · 02/05/2020 18:54

Friends daughter is called clementine

And in teen.

daisypond · 02/05/2020 18:56

It has two pronunciations in British English.
The first - teen - is more usual but the other is fine too:

From Collins dictionary:
in British English
(ˈklɛmənˌtiːn , -ˌtaɪn)
NOUN
a citrus fruit thought to be either a variety of tangerine or a hybrid between a tangerine and sweet orange

LouLouLoo · 02/05/2020 18:56

Tyne as in Tyne bridge.

worstwitch18 · 03/05/2020 12:04

Tine but I am from NZ.

Abbccc · 03/05/2020 12:10

The name: tine

I pronounce it so the last syllable rhymes with Caroline

HoyaFlower · 04/05/2020 01:45

With the last syllable in Caroline!

june2007 · 04/05/2020 01:46

I say teen as in the fruit ut the song was about a clementine as in time.
