What do you do when you really can't think of a name you like?

This is my 3rd and I had no problems at all with the first two and even had the names picked out before I conceived.

I'm also a bit impulsive so each week I like a different name and then a week later it's a 100% no go.

Feel like I'm never going to find a name for this baby and that I'll end up regretting the name I choose. I'm 26 weeks so still have plenty on time to find one but I feel hopeless lol

Sit down with a baby name list (I was going to say 'book' but presume they are all on-line these days) over a few evenings and write out a really long list of 'don't mind this' / 'really quite like this' / 'love this but ... ' . Get your dh / dp to do the same.
Go through each other's lists and rule out any you really, really don't like.

Try to find a good solid list of about a dozen you both like and mull over for a few weeks.
Then you can narrow it down

Oh I'm the same. I've got my boys name all picked out, but my girls name changes every day never mind every week. Not that I'm pregnant mind or indenting to be.
I 'd just relax and not over think it. If you can't stick with a name then you r baby will probably come with a name. It's amazing how many babies do actually name themselves. They come out with a name writte n all over them.

What kind of names do you like? Which would you want to avoid?

Do you have family names that might inspire you - a great-aunt or great-uncle or middle name?

What sort of names go with your surname?

Do you know whether you're having a girl or a boy?

I'm having a section next week and we still haven't agreed a name for our baby boy

I feel your frustration too. Only since posting my lists this morning that DH and I have agreed on and getting positive feedback has it enabled me to begin to really envisage the names on a little person. I think it's very easy to get bogged down with the lists as there really are so many beautiful names.

We are trying to find names that 1. We both agree on (always a good start) as you both will use the name on your DC every day, 2. They fit our style and are a representation or an extension of us (I know this may sound totally crazy to some but it really helped us narrow names down), and 3. We are trying not to take on too many opinions of others, especially immediate family and friends who can often be quite overbearing when it comes to helping with your child's name (going through this now)

MN is a great help for getting opinions and ideas and I personally have found it useful so far but be conscious that it's your DC and these are just the thoughts of complete strangers online who may not share the same opinions as you. I'm sure everyone would be on board to help if you wanted some help with specific names
