How do you pronounce Elena?

DH likes the name but I'm not sure how exactly it should be pronounced

I think there's just too many variables and I would be correcting people, lovely name but I just don't think it'll work where I live, back to the drawing bird

depends on where you are from.

For me, southern English. Eleanor is NOT pronounced with an OR at the edn it is pronounced

Ellen-a more or less.

My friends from germany, Holland would pronounce Elena the same way, ie same name different spelling.

But friends from further East eg Russia, would see it in the same category a sthe name

Lena, and would add an E sound to the beginning E -LAY -na.

So I think you get to choose which one you like

But I have friends with this name from other European countries I don't know anyone British with the name
