Yell-een-a. (Russian friend.)

Or El-ay-na, if not obviously Russian heritage.

FancyPants20 · 26/04/2020 19:09

1 and 3.

I really don't get how Eleanor is pronounced the same, but I'm not British, so...

1 is how the one I know is pronounced.

TheCanterburyWhales · 26/04/2020 21:50

4 which is how it's pronounced here (Italy) more or less. (Italian Elena is very similar to English Eleanor tbh apart from a stronger E)

EmmaGrundyForPM · 26/04/2020 21:54

It depends on where you’re from - the Italian, Spanish, Greek and Eastern European pronunciations are all different. As you might expect.

Eh-lay-na (but the lay is quite soft sounding).

I think it's beautiful.

littlefawn · 27/04/2020 20:28

Upthelaganinabubble - I'm assuming we're from the same area (by your name) as with our accent I think it can sound a bit harsh, I feel like when I say Eh-lay-na I'm putting on an English accent!
