Girls Name

I am due a girl in May and we are no name ideas.

Nothing feels right.

We have a son called Henry and have a one syllable surname.

I always planned on using Evelyn after my grandmother but that just doesn't feel right as a first name. And something about it makes me feel a little... uncomfortable? So it will most likely be her middle name.

I like longer names, but I don't really like what some shorten to. For example Genevieve - Gen, Valentina - Val/Tina, Penelope - Penny, Magnolia - Maggie. My in laws are big fans of shortening names so it will happen whether I like it not and I would rather not hate it.

My husband has vetoed many of my suggestions - Margot, Astrid, Iona, Echo, Tabitha, Ophelia. And I have vetoed his - Hannah, Henrietta, Sarah etc.

I don't know where to look for any good suggestions, every thing is either the most popular names or very obscure.

Help?!

I wanted Evelyn as a middle name too, after my gran. But couldn't find any first name we liked that went with it. We ended up using a middle name we'd never even considered just because it was the only thing that sounded great with her first name.

We have a name off the list your husband vetoed, my DP vetoed it too but suddenly came around to it. Would your husband possibly change his mind too? You have some lovely names on your list.
I let my DP rate the name out of ten and then a month later redid the vote and his results were very different.

Some lovely suggestions! Funnily enough one of them is mine and one very similar to my sister's.

I will see what the husband thinks but I have a feeling he's not going to like most of them.
