Summer - potential October baby

What do you think about the name Summer if a baby is born in October? My DD is due end of September so it could happen. It’s the only name we can agree on at the moment but I’m worried it’ll seem a bit stupid if she’s born in a month that is considered more of an autumn month

Google tells me that British summer time ends 25th October so does that make it acceptable?

There was over 700 babies named summer in 2018 (most recent year we have statistics for), absolute no way they were all born in summer. I don’t think it matters at all what month she is born in.
Summer is a lovely name and it honestly wouldn’t interest me whether another persons child named “winter” “summer” or “June” was born in the specified season/month

I always assume people called Summer or Winter are born in that season but they are both lovely names regardless. If that's the name you both like then go for it!

I know a Summer who was born in February. Personally I would only name a child Summer if they were actually born in summer, i.e. May to September. What about Autumn? Lovely fitting name for if she is born in October.

Jamiladodger · 23/04/2020 14:00

My mother in law is a June and she was a Christmas baby.

Summer, Autumn, June, August, Noelle, Carol, Sunny etc are all names that can be given to a baby no matter what month or season they're born in and I personally wouldn't think twice about it. Go for it 🌻

It doesn't matter at all.

CreamWhitecakes · 23/04/2020 17:45

love the name Summer and Autumn and will most likely use one or the other but only if their birthday was in that season.

Shayisgreat · 23/04/2020 17:46

It's a lovely name and it doesn't matter if she's born in a different season.

Orphlids · 23/04/2020 18:09

No, doesn’t matter. If you both love that name, then use it. The alternative is you choose a name that neither of you truly love, and I think that’s a lot more serious than baby’s name not matching the season of her birth. Congratulations.

I know a December born Summer.

Peachbubble · 23/04/2020 18:14

I think it's fine for an October baby. I know a Summer who was born in March.

midsomermurderess · 23/04/2020 18:38

Few people outside of her social and family circle will know or care what season she was born in. It will just be her name.

Sunshine1235 · 24/04/2020 08:44

Thanks for the reassurance, I think we will probably just go for it unless something else presents itself between now and then
