It is a surname. my gran's maiden name.

JaneJeffer · 25/04/2020 18:24

Aww that's lovely Chelsie

BendyLikeBeckham · 29/04/2020 11:01

OP, why so rude to people giving opinions when you asked for opinions?

And why bother asking if you don't actually want them, because you've made your mind up already?

I'm starting to think this is a windup. Or you are new to MN. Or both. I bet your real name is Chelsie isn't it?

Whataloadofshite · 29/04/2020 11:02

Oh dear.

Chelsie2020 · 29/04/2020 12:05

@BendyLikeBeckham I asked for opinions on a name, I didn’t ask to be bullied. I will always defend myself. I wanted the general opinions, yes or no?? Do you like or dislike? Not suggestions about other names? Not about my knowledge of the county? Not about where the baby was conceived? I love the name Ireland and that’s what I will call my baby. Opinions from others will never change that. Yes, my real name is Chelsie, will you start bulling me for that now as well?

Just think, Op. You're being introduced to some people you've never met before. It's - this is Chelsie, and her daughter, Ireland.

Which to me sounds like - This is Bombay, and her daughter, Sri Lanka.

Or - this is Madrid, with her daughter Balearic.

Or - this is Athens, with her daughter, Crete.

But if you like it, you like it; it's fine. We're just giving you our opinions.

SliAnCroix · 29/04/2020 14:27

At what point does an opinion "no that is too hard to say" ( my comment) become bullying??
I dont feel the need to defend myself against opinions. It isnt necessary. An opinion cant control me. Yswim op?

Viviennemary · 29/04/2020 19:10

It's one of those names where folk will think why on earth did she call a child that. Incidentally, why would you call a child that.

Viviennemary · 29/04/2020 19:12

Ah I see you've answered it already. You like the name and have decided. So doesn't matter what anybody says.

RoseMartha · 29/04/2020 19:44

I would not use it personally.

I think if you are set on using it have it as a middle name.

KindnessCrusader · 29/04/2020 19:49

It's lovely. Paris, Sienna, Vienna, why not Ireland?

Mumwith4kidzz · 30/04/2020 03:38

Weird but kind of love it!

Poodles03 · 30/04/2020 04:02

If you're going to saddle a child with a ridiculous name, why not really go for it and name it Papua New Guinea or Nicaragua or even Moron (which is a place in Argentina).

Happymama24 · 30/04/2020 04:11

If you are Really wanting to use the name Ireland, what about something like Irlanda - Portuguese for Ireland. The A on the end makes the name softer more appealing

Juliaplus4 · 01/05/2020 22:59

Great for my country. Not for a person though.
