Due next week with a little boy - struggled to think of any names I liked and now have found fault with all on my shortlist (apologies if you have picked these names!). Can I have your views... do you like any of these... ?

Jude - getting too popular?
Rex - as above also bit 'fashionable'
Quinn - love this but apparently sounds like a word which means vagina Confused
Wilf - sounds like milf, also a bit trendy
Evan - sounds like half a name
Seth - meh
Jed - hmm

I like short names!

I love Evan.

How about Felix or Cormac?

Robs20 · 21/04/2020 17:24

I like Wilf from your list :)

Whatsyourflava · 21/04/2020 17:26

I like Seth and Jude best
Rex is getting more popular but is currently outside the top 150 names (and growth has slowed). I’ve never met one

Whatsyourflava · 21/04/2020 17:26

Oh I love Wilf too

Whatsyourflava · 21/04/2020 17:28

John

helpmum2003 · 21/04/2020 17:30

Evan is a lovely name.

What about Wilfred then you or he can choose nn Wilf or Fred(die) or Will

As you like short names what about Kit?

TobyeBella · 21/04/2020 17:34

I like Evan.

How about?

Euan
Rory
Owen
Noah
Eric
Theo
Nate

userabcname · 21/04/2020 17:35

I love Rex! I also like Axel and Eli which I feel are along similar lines. I do like Seth but not keen on Evan or Quinn. The others are OK.

BellaVida · 21/04/2020 17:37

If you like Quinn, I honestly wouldn’t make that association. Alternatively, what about Quentin or Quade? I like Wilf and also have a friend with a Wilfie.

Other suggestions:
Finn
Ned
Saul
Zane
Caleb
Brody
Milo
Logan
Xander
Byron

Whatsyourflava · 21/04/2020 17:38

Yeh I really would make the connection with Quinn

Shame it’s a nice name but unusable

IckleBear · 21/04/2020 17:41

SnowdropFox · 21/04/2020 19:42

If you've gone off all your names. Wait and meet the wee guy and see if any suit him when he arrives. You might realise one is just right. If not, come back and we'll all be ready to help!

LochJessMonster · 21/04/2020 19:46

Your are definitely overthinking.
Evan- sounds like half a name is ridiculous.

LittleFoxKit · 21/04/2020 19:51

Never heard of Quinn sounding like a vagina, but that's just me!
Evan is a lovely name
I would consider wilf short for wilfred if I'm honest
I like the name Seth, and dont think it's to common at the moment,
Jed is also lovely, but makes me think of jedward but if I'm honest doubt many people remember them now!

Also could consider
Elijah (eli) - which I actually love
Ted (teddy, edward) - which is cute when little and allows for a more mature/professional name as they get older

merryhouse · 21/04/2020 19:51

I know a Quinn - about 12 I think. I was aware of the word quim and it's never occurred to me to link the two. Wilf and milf is even more of a stretch.

Who told you about quim?

IckleBear · 21/04/2020 21:30

I had to look it up (Quinn) and a nickname for vagina (Quinny)? Never heard of it before but heard Quim, that never put me off.

catinb0oots · 21/04/2020 21:31

Wilbur

ISawATiger · 21/04/2020 21:48

Blake
Guy
Kit
Sam
Louis
Max
Ralph
Adam
Leo
Are great stand alone short names.

Sebastian - Seb
Finley - Finn
Rupert - Roo
Edward - Ed/Ted
Benjamin - Ben/Benji
Orion - Ori
Tobias - Toby
Some of my favourite names with a longer formal version, where the shorter version can be used as the main name.

Jossina · 21/04/2020 22:39

This whole Quinn vagina thing is way overblown.
Rex is a dog.

17caterpillars1mouse · 22/04/2020 10:29

Jude - I like Jude. I've only come a Ross one and I have 2 young children so alot of play groups, nursery etc. I love Judah though

Rex - I actually know 3 Rex's but always think it sounds a bit celebrity

Quinn - this is my favourite of your list. I've heard of Quim of a word for vagina but never Quinn?

Wilf - I like Wilf, I know 2 both nn for Wilfred. What about Walt? Same feel slightly less on the up

Evan - more classical than your others. It's nice. I prefer Euan though

Seth - I really don't like it

Jed - I really like this, it has a cool sound to it

P.s ALL of your names are totally acceptable boy names. It's easy to overthink and talk ourselves out of something but go with what's right for you
