We both like the name Ruby and would like to use Mavis as a middle name after my husbands Grandma. Do they sound nice together?

Any other names you think go with Mavis as a middle name?

I think they're nice together.

I don't think all that much 'goes with ' Mavis tbh. Ruby Mavis is nice.

Ruby Mavis is lovely 🥰

Love it, or Hattie Mavis is nice. My friend is calling her little girl Dottie Mavis , she’s due any day now xx

Ruby is nice, but while I like the sentiment around using Mavis I can't warm to it... I know you asked for opinions rather than suggestions for a middle name but Ruby Maeve (pronounced Mave to rhyme with rave) sounds much more modern and nicer to my ears.

Thank you all for your comments! Any other suggestions for middle names for Ruby?

Ruby May? Another who hasn’t warmed to Mavis....although to be fair lovely people can make their names lovely 😘

Ruby Amaryllis

I had actually also thought of Ruby May, her brother or sister who we lost was due in May so I liked the thought of remembering it 🥰

I would stick to Ruby Mavis - it's a good name, has a lovely sentiment behind it and is a great way to honour your DD's great grandmother.

IckleBear · 20/04/2020 20:47

Ruby Emilia

Ruby Mavis is lovely, especially as it's a family name. I don't see anything wrong with the name, it's pretty. Much prefer Mavis over the overused, "filler" middle name May.
