Ishaan? Or something else??

Pregnant with 3rd boy, mixed race Indian and British, we’ve exhausted the names we like with the first two and are struggling! Must be an Indian name, Hindu or Sanskrit preferably but nothing to long and complicated (something my grandparents can pronounce!)
Ishaan is pronounced ee-sh-aaan, what do you think? Or any other ideas? Thanks!

Love it.

emmathedilemma · 20/04/2020 17:12

I like it too!

Finnemoo · 20/04/2020 17:17

Lovely, I know an Eashan pronounced the same.

Wheresthebiffer2 · 20/04/2020 17:21

I like it.

how about Divinesh? (nickname Dishu)

DramaAlpaca · 20/04/2020 17:22

It's nice, I like it.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 20/04/2020 17:30

Lovely name. I also like Pranav and Siddhant

NoSauce · 20/04/2020 18:06

Lovely name.

FizzingWhizzbee123 · 21/04/2020 15:51

Nice name. My son has two Eshan’s in his nursery.

LemonFun · 21/04/2020 16:53

I think Ishaan is quite popular at the moment.

Quite a few Indian names that go well:

Hari
Jai
Rai
Xavier (just popular atm but not Indian)
Aarian

BettyUnderswoob · 21/04/2020 18:18

Hadn't heard it before, but I think it's lovely!

percentageshelp · 21/04/2020 21:09

What about Arjan?

Travellingmamma · 22/04/2020 08:16

Thanks all! One of my other kids has been listed already and something similar to the other one so we’re thinking along the same lines! I know Ishaan is always quite popular in India, but not so much outside of India and we only visit every few years so I’m not too worried about that. I’m working on my husband as he likes it but not loving it and everything he’s mentioned I hate! I definitely find this the worst bit of a mixed race marriage! 😂

So the mixed race kids I know are called:
Ishaan
Nikhil
Arjun
Rohan

My kids have Indian names Westerners can pronounce but they are rare so I won’t put them online but happy to PM you if you want.
Ishaan is not that unpopular in the UK. There are two Ishaan’s in DS1’s class and a younger sibling with that name!

buzzy1 · 22/04/2020 23:11

I love the name Ishan (prefer it to Ishaan) , also like Ashwin and Sachin which are both easy to pronounce

GrumpyHoonMain · 22/04/2020 23:17

I think Ishaan is a bit dated now tbh. There are a number of easy to pronounce traditional names that haven’t dated as much - Jay, Raj, Harry (it’s the way Trinidadian Hindus spell Hari), Amar. Vihaan’s becoming a bit more popular now too but I’m not sure how I feel about it.

Jamiladodger · 22/04/2020 23:27

Ishaan is gorgeous.

How about Raj, Kiran, Dev, Dylan, Arun, Taran or Ashwin/Ash?

Best wishes.

Travellingmamma · 23/04/2020 08:10

Keep them coming people! Not a fan of one syllable names, ruling out Jai and Raj, surname ends -ee ruling out Hari and we we’re down south so there are hundreds of Harry’s named after the prince... this is definitely the last baby so we don’t have to go through this again! So far my DH, both other boys and a couple of cousins have been listed so could do with a few more options if anyone has anything else? Nikhil is growing on me, thanks for that @HuloBeraal 🙂
