Beatrix

Much prefer Emily. Emmeline just an unnecessarily frilly version of lovely classic Emily to me

sunshineandshowers21 · 20/04/2020 13:02

i prefer emmeline - but i’m biased because that’s my daughter’s name. she’s emmeline charlotte so we clearly have a similar taste in names. i love charlotte. if it wasn’t my sister’s name i’d have used that as a first name.

LotusClover · 20/04/2020 18:06

Elizabeth - classic but a bit plain and boring
Beatrix - don't like
Charlotte - classic and pretty
Faith - very pretty, love this name
Primrose - sounds like a name for a fairy tale character rather than an actual person

LotusClover · 20/04/2020 18:07

Also, Emily is a thousand times nicer than Emmeline!

FaithHopeandGlory · 20/04/2020 18:22

Faith & Beatrix are my favourites. Timeless and gorgeous

bridgetreilly · 20/04/2020 18:25

Elizabeth nn Ella: I like Elizabeth but I really don't like Ella. Eliza, Betsy or Beth would be my preferred short forms.
Beatrix: It's okay.
Charlotte nn Charley: Prefer nn Lottie or Charlie
Faith: Don't like this
Primrose: REALLY don't like this.
Also do you prefer Emmeline or Emily: Emmeline by a mile. It's a more interesting name and Emmeline Pankhurst is a great person to be named after.

MikeUniformMike · 20/04/2020 18:29

Elizabeth nn Ella - Just call her one or the other.
Beatrix - fine
Charlotte nn Charley - Charlotte is nice. Charlie is nice for a boy.
Faith - ok but a bit virtuous. Prefer Fay. If you know anyone who says th as ff. Faiff may annoy you.
Primrose - ok but a bit prim

MikeUniformMike · 20/04/2020 18:31

I prefer Emily to Emmeline

AdaColeman · 20/04/2020 18:43

I’m not at all keen on Primrose.
I prefer the softer/prettier sound of Beatrice to Beatrix and I’m not fond of Trixie as a nn.
I like Elizabeth, Charlotte and Faith.
I like both Emily and Emmeline, but of the two Emmeline is my favourite.

daisypond · 20/04/2020 18:45

Elizabeth - is great. But why wreck it with the bland Ella?
Beatrix - nice
Charlotte - not keen. Dull.
Faith - OK...but too religious for me. I like other virtue names more.
Primrose - I like this a lot. Lovely meaning.
Emmeline v Emily - hm. Emmeline is dated now, and it’s a bit frilly Victoriana for today. The ones I know are nearing 30. I can’t get excited about Emily either. Dull and dowdy.
Also do you prefer Emmeline or Emily?

cptartapp · 20/04/2020 18:55

Elizabeth - lovely in its entirety. Not another Ella.
Beatrix -no. Beatrice is nice though.
Charlotte - agree, dull. Charley is dreadful.
Faith - ok as a middle name.
Primrose -awful. Reminds me of Harold Shipman's wife.
Prefer Emily. But there are far nicer classic names.

Tatum1234 · 20/04/2020 19:04

Emmeline is by far the nicest out of all of them Smile

Jamiladodger · 20/04/2020 19:06

Elizabeth nn Ella - Classic, traditional, pretty, plain
Beatrix - Potter
Charlotte nn Charley- I would use Charlie over Charley
Faith- Same as with Elizabeth and Charlotte it's a safe, plain kinda pretty name
Primrose- A bit twee. I've seen it mentioned a lot of times on mumsnet but not heard it in real life.

Jamiladodger · 20/04/2020 19:07

Just noticed Emmeline and Emily on your list - they're my faves from the names you've given

twinkledag · 20/04/2020 19:47

Emiliana nn Emi is gorgeous!

Jossina · 20/04/2020 21:56

Elizabeth nn Ella: not bad
Beatrix: love it
Charlotte nn Charley: much prefer Charley to Lottie
Faith: makes me think of the Slayer, so not a big fan
Primrose: Love it

Also do you prefer Emmeline or Emily?
That's hard. I love both of them. You can't go wrong with either.

IVflytrap · 21/04/2020 18:49

Elizabeth nn Ella - bit boring, sorry. Hundreds of Ellas, Ellies etc.
Beatrix - like it a lot
Charlotte nn Charley - it's fine, Charley is less usual than Lottie these days.
Faith - like it a lot
Primrose - it's OK

I prefer Emmeline over Emily.
