Georgia?

Not for me but for a pregnant friend.

What are your thoughts on this? My friend loves it but had a negative reaction to it from a family member and is now unsure about using it.

She already has another DC with a short name and so doesn’t want to go for Georgina.

Honest opinions please.

Thanks Smile

I think Georgia is a beautiful name

june2007 · 19/04/2020 00:14

Georgia is a good name. I like Georgina too but quite a different name.

DramaAlpaca · 19/04/2020 00:14

If your friend loves it she should take no notice of what her family thinks and just use it.

As you've asked for honest opinions, it's not a name I like, tbh, I think Georgina is so much more classic and elegant. To me Georgia is a place name and I'm not keen on those.

pinkpanther84 · 19/04/2020 00:15

Lovely name

Staffori · 19/04/2020 00:16

I love it. It's elegant, feminine, not too common and a zillion times better than Georgina.

QueueNotCue · 19/04/2020 07:37

Thanks all, I will pass your feedback onto her Smile

I don’t like it. It’s very downmarket now. Might have been OK 20, 30 years ago. But it was always going to be too Southern State for me, as well as a country.

Astronica · 19/04/2020 11:23

I really like it.

Iwantacookie · 19/04/2020 11:39

I like the name itself personally prefer Georgina but each to their own.
I wouldn't use either though as they're not for me.

Thefaceofboe · 19/04/2020 14:20

I like it. I like Georgie even more Smile

LotusClover · 19/04/2020 14:31

It's okay, not one of my personal favourites, but it's nice. Just make sure your friend doesn't spell it as Jorja or some other weird creative spelling.

Whatsyourflava · 19/04/2020 14:40

I like it

Don’t worry about negative reactions. There’s no name in existence that’s universally loved. Plus opinions change over time. I gave my child a name that I used to hate.

TotesGodsWill · 19/04/2020 14:49

It’s lovely

ofwarren · 19/04/2020 14:51

Not my taste but it's a perfectly good name.

inappropriateraspberry · 19/04/2020 15:02

It's a lovely name but I am definitely biased. It's traditional but not very common. A classic!

jaoler · 19/04/2020 15:45

Probably one of the only classic names I actually like! I think it's lovely!

patronum · 20/04/2020 01:24

I think it’s beautiful

alexdgr8 · 20/04/2020 01:30

to me it's a place name, as in the song georgia on my mind.
georgina, or even georgiana, sound better, or georgette.

DramaAlpaca · 20/04/2020 02:08

Georgia a classic? Nope, it's really not. George and Georgina/Georgiana are traditional and classic, Georgia isn't.

123Dancewithme · 20/04/2020 21:30

I don’t like it. Georgina is much nicer.

Jamiladodger · 20/04/2020 21:32

Lovely, harmless, perfectly acceptable name. Nothing bad to say about it.

funmummy48 · 20/04/2020 21:53

I think it’s lovely.

Smellbellina · 20/04/2020 21:55

Love it.

BettyUnderswoob · 21/04/2020 04:18

I know and love a Georgia... Georgie for "short"
