Arabic name

Hi everyone, I'm due very soon and we have left it a surprise as to whether it's a boy or girl, but we are really struggling with boys names.
We have an Arab/British background which is making it really hard... I tend to like Western names, husband Arabic names, although he isn't incredibly fond of those either.

He likes the name Ammar, sort or pronounced Amm ma. I don't hate it but I feel it sounds a bit feminine.... Pretty sure we won't use it for a first name but maybe middle.... What do you think of it? The meaning is 'one who brings a place back to life' which is nice.

Amma means mother in most Asian / middle eastern languages. While it’s considered an appropriate name for a girl (in the same way as Bibi might be) I do think it lacks imagination.

Love Rayan for a boy and also love Ammar ( Taught two and they were both absolute sweeties ). I also like Meshari as a bays name and Fahad.
For girls I like Badriyah, Loulwah, Ghaliah and Hadiyah

Could you spell it Amar? and maybe lengthen the second a slightly so as to make it obvious it's not a schwa (like Jafar rather than Jaffa).

I've only ever heard Ammar being pronounced with a very clear and usually rolled r at the end. Which I like. I've not come across your version. I don't like it as much.

Assuming the baby will get the father's surname, you should get the last word on the first name.

How about Danyaal? Sounds like Daniel.

I was wondering how you’d pronounce Ammar like Amma then it occurred to me as a Scot that we don’t drop the r at the end

I’ve worked with loads of students from Arabic speaking countries and my favourites are:

Girls: Amal, Nura/Noura, Nadiya, Miral, Alaa, Mashael

Boys: Abdulaziz because you can shorten to either Abdi or Aziz which are both lovely and Saleh

Adam, Zakariah, Idris, Yunus, Yusuf, Mikael (most of the Biblical names have an equivalent)

Yasmina, Nouriya, Zakia, Zara, Amaal, Hannah, Sara, Souriyah, Zaiynab, Mariam, Rania
