Neve

theschoolonthehill · 14/04/2020 02:17

Isla is better than the others but I don't love it.

Astronica · 14/04/2020 03:02

I like Romy and Neve.

Littlebearstrousers · 14/04/2020 03:07

Romy

DramaAlpaca · 14/04/2020 03:11

Isla is my favourite.

I don't like Neve, but spell it correctly as Niamh and I love it.

Romy is sweet, but only as a diminutive of something grown up, like Rosemary.

Elva isn't good, it makes me think of baby eels .

Jossina · 14/04/2020 04:38

Isla is the best. Neve is so-so, Romy is a nickname for something, Elva makes me think of the Adams Family. ::snap snap::

geojojo · 14/04/2020 06:55

Romy

I know so many little Islas, lovely name but has lost a bit of its loveliness to me because it is so common now.

HappyDinosaur · 14/04/2020 06:57

Love Niamh, Isla is horrible.

sorryiasked · 14/04/2020 07:08

Romy

sixtimes · 14/04/2020 07:33

I love Isla but is becoming very popular. Like Niamh too

Smellbellina · 14/04/2020 07:34

Romy

Saoirse7 · 14/04/2020 07:57

Are those anglicised spellings of Ailbhe and Niamh?

Isla very common, Neve is nice although not keen on spelling, same with Elva.

Don't like Romy.

MikeUniformMike · 14/04/2020 09:56

Elva - a baby eel is an Elver
Romi/Romy - Romy isn't too bad but Romi is naff
Neve - Niamh is so much nicer
Isla - nice but overused.

Niamh is the clear winner.

Whatsyourflava · 14/04/2020 10:51

Isla and Neve

Isla’s numbers have been declining year on year for past 10 years so definitely no where near as common as it used to be at its peak

Whatsyourflava · 14/04/2020 10:52

Elva is baby eel and looks too much like anagram of Vulva to me
Romy a bit downmarket sorry

Neve and Isla lovely

suspended · 14/04/2020 10:54

Niamh if spelled properly. I cringe when I see Irish/Gaelic names anglicised like 'shavaun' 'eefa'

GetTheSprinkles · 14/04/2020 10:54

Elva makes me think of Elves
Neve is nice but I prefer the Irish spelling Niamh

Yippity · 14/04/2020 10:56

Niamh rather than Neve is beautiful.

I like Romy, too.

Ineedanewusername · 14/04/2020 10:58

I love Niamh, Neve looks really ugly.

Spied · 14/04/2020 10:59

Isla probably the best but it's v.popular.
Niamh is ok. Not Neve.
I really dislike the others.

SliAnChroi · 14/04/2020 11:00

I almost like these!

Elva is quite nice, prefer Elvie though. Is it short for Elvira, kind of dated Spanish name. Though might sound less dated now than it did 30 years ago!

Niamh is nice, straightforward name, it was in the top 100 names in the UK a while ago so just spell it Niamh.

Actually, that makes me wonder, is Elva an anglicisation of Ailbhe

Romy I like. This is really old-fashioned but I love the name Rosemary and and Romy short for Rosemary is beautiful (imo)

Isla is nice, pretty. Bit ''of the moment'' five years ago though. There will be a lot of Islas out there already.

Pennywort · 14/04/2020 11:02

Niamh or Ailbhe.

daisypond · 14/04/2020 11:04

Neve is spelled as Niamh. Niamh is nice. Neve isn’t/makes you look ignorant.
Romy is nice. Romi isn’t.
Isla is OK.
Elva is a name I don’t know. Is that another odd spelling?
Out of those names, Romy is the classiest.

Blursula · 14/04/2020 11:13

Romy is gorgeous - I can’t understand why it isn’t more popular. I like it just as Romy, not as a nickname, although would also work well for Romilly.

There are soooo many Islas. Neve is nice (although if using this spelling people might pronounce it Nev instead of Neeve, as I think that might be how Neve Campbell pronounces it?) might be safer to go Niamh.

Not keen on Elva, sorry

pinkpinecone · 14/04/2020 11:24

Elva - Never heard this before and not keen on it. What's the origin?

Romy/Romi - Beautiful and very euro chic because of Romy Schneider. Prefer the Y spelling.

Neve - Its ok but agree that the spelling looks a bit strange

Isla - This is really pretty soft sounding name but extremely popular which would put me off

Romy is the prettiest name on your list
