2 gfs of mine are on a mum-to-be wattsapp group chat. 1 is expecting a boy, the other a girl like me.

My gf expecting the DD has been considering mostly classic no frills girls names such as Elizabeth and Anne but has recently discovered the name Xari and likes!

Can we have your honest reactions please?

Haven't heard it. Don't know how to pronounce it. Kzari? Zari? Shari?
I don't like it

It's inoffensive. Not much to say about it really. Seems a bit try-hard.

Never heard of it. Don't have any associations with it other than I would probably assume it's made up unless someone told me otherwise. No idea what culture it would be from if it's an established name. I would assume pronounced Zari. Bit nothingy, really.

It's a bit czary

I'd spell it Zari and spare the poor child a lifetime of having to correct the spelling and pronunciation of every single person who needs to read or write her name ever.

I think Xari is a lovely and memorable name. Easy to spell, unlikely to be shortened, unusual. What’s not to like?

Like it! Much better than dull names

I think its pretty but I work for a company with a similar name that starts with an X and it is constantly mispronounced and misspelt. I think if your intention was to pronounce it ‘Zari’ then spell it like that too - will prevent her having to constantly correct people.
