Hi all - just looking for your thoughts and any extra ideas?

Our favourites so far are
Carys
Iris
Saoirse.

I also like Remi, Rory, Niamh, Cora, Margot.

Any other names you think I’d like, or preferences from the list?

Thanks in advance.

I like your names. I think my fav is Carys because it's the more original of the three, I don't remember seeing it before (though I did see it written Charis once).

Remi's a boy name in my country, also it feels like a nickname.

Also not keen on Margot, it's everywhere on here which put me off.

Cora sounds like a name from last generation to me.

Iris is nice, I like the sound of Saoirse but outside of ireland most people won't know how to pronounce it.

EssentialHummus · 12/04/2020 06:54

I like Iris the best. We have a Saoirse in our NCT group and everyone either mis-spells or mis-pronounces her name. Beautiful name and meaning, but that would weigh against the name for me.

ohmysoul · 12/04/2020 06:57

Saoirse definitely. Such a pretty name.

pilates · 12/04/2020 07:18

Carys and Rory are great names

Lisette1940 · 12/04/2020 07:26

Cara is an Irish name which means friend.

BellsaRinging · 12/04/2020 07:27

Can't choose, but just wanted to say you have great name taste!

Peachbubble · 12/04/2020 07:28

From your top 3, I like Carys the best. How about
Cara (prefer this to Cora)
Edie
Callie
Maeve

sorryiasked · 12/04/2020 07:31

Definitely Carys

missmouse101 · 12/04/2020 07:32

Carys is the nicest. Cora and Margot are awful and Rory is a boy's name. (Ugly roar sound in it too.)

Petiolaris · 12/04/2020 07:36

Unless you’re in Ireland nobody will know how to pronounce Saiorse. She’ll end up being called Say-orse, or even worse Seahorse.

20viona · 12/04/2020 07:36

Iris or Remi.

Astronica · 12/04/2020 07:38

I like Saoirse, Niamh, Carys and Iris best from all your names.

user1480880826 · 12/04/2020 07:45

I have no idea how to pronounce Saoirse. Are you actually Irish and living in Ireland? I can’t think of anything more tedious than a lifetime of having to tell people how to pronounce and spell my name.

Also, Rory is a boys name.

loserssaywhat · 12/04/2020 07:49

I love all of your names OP. Favourites are iris and Rory.

Falafellygood · 12/04/2020 08:20

Carys was going to be my daughter's name! It was my favourite throughout my pregnancy. But when she was born, she did not suit it at all. She's nearly 1 and still doesn't. We went with the other choice which suited her from the moment she was born. I still adore Carys so that gets my vote!

You have a great taste in names. I love Saiorse but I think it will be a headache to spell/pronounce constantly unless you live in Ireland.

I love Carys though Smile

60sPony · 12/04/2020 08:27

Saoirse is one if my favourite girls names but could never use as we are not at all Irish and it is quite a political name.

Ellmau · 12/04/2020 10:22

Carys because it's the more original of the three, I don't remember seeing it before (though I did see it written Charis once).**

These are pronounced the same but are different names with different meanings and derivations. Carys is Welsh and Charis Greek.

kim1856 · 12/04/2020 10:31

Love Iris, Cora & Remi x

BikeRunSki · 12/04/2020 10:38

Saiorse, only if you live in Ireland. It does t seem to have caught on in Anglophile countries as much as Niamh and Siobhan, despite Saiorse Ronan.

Carys is lovely

Iris is becoming very popular. I always feel a bit sorry for girls with flower names, or Grace, who are not delicate and graceful.

Whatsyourflava · 12/04/2020 10:44

Lovely names
Love Iris and Cora and Margot 🥰
You might also like Cleo, Marnie, Martha
How about
Margaret nn Maggie
Clementine nn Clemmie

Mumma4262 · 12/04/2020 12:06

Love your name choices! I also love Cerys! But I have an Ellis so can’t use it ☹️

Blizy · 12/04/2020 12:14

I love Iris, it's my top choice so far!
Carys is lovely too.

CaffiSaliMali · 12/04/2020 12:50

Carys is my favourite. Also like Iris, Saoirse and Niamh. I'm guessing you and/or DH have Irish and Welsh ancestry? I think Carys just about works ok without Welsh roots as it's fairly well known, as is Cerys. However, I think Soairse would find everyone would ask her about her Irish ancestry, and that could get tedious if she doesn't have any (I have an obviously Welsh name, think Eleri, or Angharad and get asked about my Welsh ancestry all the time).

Not a fan of Cora - generally not a fan of Cara, Clara, Carla, Carly type names.

Rory is nice too, any other ideas for a boy?

LizzieAnt · 12/04/2020 13:10

I would consider Rory a name for a boy too, unless maybe you're in the US where it's more unisex? I love Cora.

JC1991 · 12/04/2020 13:36

Hi everyone. I’m struggling with baby girl names that aren’t to common but not too ‘out there’. At the moment my DH and I like the name Erith. What’s everyone’s thoughts?
