Help with boy names please

34 weeks with a boy 🙂

Really struggling with boy names, we have a DD named Phoebe and loved her name straight away. But nothing's seems to be sticking with this kiddo, there's a few I like but none I love.

We like quite 'normal' traditional names, we have common English surname so feel most things would go well with it.

Our list at the moment is;

Benjamin nn Ben
Percy (husband not keen)
Luke (I'm not keen)
Finley nn Finn
Nathaniel nn Nate
Oscar (too common?)
Samuel nn Sam
Connor

Feedback or alternatives welcome 😁

Of your list, all the ones you both agree on seem fine (I'm with your husband on Percy). Connor, Nathaniel and Finley seem best. Or

Michael
Adam
Daniel
Jude
?

I'd advise narrowing down your list by taking off the names one of you isn't keen on because you both have to like it.

Finley is a bit too rhymy with Phoebe, but if you like the two 'f' sounds together, Felix might work.

Benjamin, Nathaniel and Samuel all work well, as do all the names MissingLinker suggests.

I think you need something classic but not too popular.

GirlCalledJames · 11/04/2020 14:30

Benjamin is the best of the list.
If you aren’t sure about Luke, how about Lucas?

champagneandfromage50 · 11/04/2020 14:31

I prefer Finn as a name. Benjamin is nice and Luke , Nate I am not a fan of. Oscar I just associate with a cat.

Anyway I like Tobias / Toby
Christopher/ Kit
Theo
Hugo
Sebastian/ Seb

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 11/04/2020 14:48

Well I’d take Luke and Percy off if your both not sold on each other’s choices.
I quite like Ben and Connor.
Wilbur
Dougie.

Ricekrispie22 · 11/04/2020 15:08

I like Oscar, even though it’s popular.
How about Dominic?

StellaDelMare · 11/04/2020 15:08

I like Oscar and Nathanial most!

I am a teacher and these are actually not that common despite them being traditional which is why I like those best.

You usually end up with a ton of bens, sams etc

TickTockBaby · 11/04/2020 15:10

Thanks for the input everyone.

Hadn't considered the Finley/ Phoebe rhyming, so good shout on that!

Not overly keen on any of the suggestions as of yet, perhaps Daniel.

Some feedback that might help narrow down what I'm after,

Wilbur- not keen
Dougie- dislike shortened names without a full name option, would have to be Douglas< which I don't like.
Theo- one of the few that wouldn't fit with our surname
Hugo- next door neighbours dog 😂
Sebastian- not quite 'us'
Christopher- I like but it's a popular family name.
Jude- quite popular?
Michael- dates but not in the good way.

I promise I'm not picky- Confused more suggestions welcome!

William. Oliver. Thomas. David

TickTockBaby · 11/04/2020 15:17

Ooh thanks for the insight @StellaDelMare not being one of many in class with the same name is definitely a factor for us 👍

I'd go with Ben or Oscar. I don't think Oscar is that common - I'd say the most common name in your list is Sam.

BabloHoney · 11/04/2020 15:24
