I know a Chinese girl named Linh but never heard Lynh anywhere

SlipperyNipples · 12/04/2020 00:52

Geraldine perhaps?

Giganticshark · 12/04/2020 01:04

Definitely lynh. Pronounced Lie-nuh. Like bin liner. Fuk sake

QuacksInTheDark · 12/04/2020 01:08

Lynn is 54 years old. Don’t call your baby Lynn or Lyhn.

ArriettyJones · 12/04/2020 01:10

Awful name however you spell it. Sorry.

Bouncingbelle · 12/04/2020 02:00

Lynn. Tho I prefer Lynne.

Surely it would be Lyhn not lynh.

Or what about Lin, short for Elin or Elinor?

Marphise · 12/04/2020 07:03

I'm not british so to me Lynn doesn't sound like a specific generation (unlike Genevieve, which to me is a granny name...)

Actually I like it, though defo prefer the spelling Lynn. I also like longer names with Lynn as the nickname (Lindsey Lohan is not that old, people !)

OwlBeThere · 12/04/2020 07:15

Llyn isn’t pronounced anything like Lynn for the poster who suggested that and it’s not a name. It’s pronounced to rhyme with scene. With a welsh ‘ll’ that I can’t write phonetically lol.
Eluned is pronounced eh-LEE-ned.

Petiolaris · 12/04/2020 07:16

Lynh 😂 Are you really considering this or just winding everyone up?

midnightstar66 · 12/04/2020 07:33

does Lynh even say Lynn - it doesn't in my head. It's pretty awful though even if it does. Lynn is fine albeit a pretty dull name. Might be worth thinking of names you can shorten to Lynn - Evelyn, Lynette etc ..

finallychangedmyusername · 12/04/2020 10:02

I thought the Vietnemese name was Linh, not Lynh. I've never seen Lynh before.

Agreed that most common spellings heard of the UK would be Lyn, Lynne or Lynn though. My personal preference would be Lynne.

LolaLollypop · 12/04/2020 10:09

I also know a Vietnamese Linh. Completely normal if you have Vietnamese heritage. I actually thought you must have to consider Lynh. (I actually think it works better with "I" rather than "y").

Lynn would be the most English version of the name OP and easiest to spell. But if you want a Vietnamese name then I prefer Linh over Lynh.
