Old lady name help

User1704 · 09/04/2020 13:58

I have about 1 week left now and no names at all. Nothing feels right.
I like old lady type names. Quite like Sadie and Elise but can’t imagine using either! Any suggestions?
I also like annabelle but again I’m just not sold

My mom is Thelma. She’s 91 so that qualifies as an old lady name 😂😂

My favourite auntie was called Ivy 💕

I quite like Dora, it's pretty. Is it short for Theodora?

Second the comment re Elise - I considered and sometimes wish I’d called my dd Elise.

Be careful with old lady names - I chose one that sounded hip and cute in the place I was living at the time, where there were heaps of baby Agathas, Mabels, Hettys, Betsys etc. but then I moved to an entirely different part of the country and found there were a whole load of 50/60 yr olds with the name up here and it felt all different. I still like the name but sometimes have a pang of regret I didn’t go for something ‘prettier’ or more classic.

Other ideas

Annalise as an alternative to Annabelle?

Eliza - old fashioned but classic

Elspeth as a long form for Elsie?

Umnoway · 09/04/2020 14:24

Elspeth is nice, Elsie for short.
Edith with Edie for short.
Violet and Ivy are fairly popular nowadays but both beautiful.
Beatrix/Beatrice both gorgeous
I like Mabel and Martha too.
