Hi all! We found out recently we are having a little girl

I love, love, love Cecelia. It was always my first choice, but now my father has run off with his ghastly mistress, whose name is Celia, and it’s too similar, so now I can’t use it! Angry

daisypond · 09/04/2020 13:47

I really like Cecilia. Prefer that spelling. But Rosa is very nice too. Not so keen on Aurelia.

IslayBrigid · 09/04/2020 14:00

@Orphlids Oh no! Haha, that's awful. Yes, it's annoying how people ruin names. No one has ruined Rosa but I used to work with someone called Celia, who was lovely, but I just associate her with it now. I feel like Cecelia is a bit different though.

Thank you @daisypond - yes Cecelia is beautiful! It just feels a little frilly/posh... but maybe not. I haven't seen your spelling before... interesting!

I was also thinking she could be Rosa Cecelia. But this would mean Rosa Cecelia Vivienne, or letting go of Vivienne.

I'm not opposed to two middle names in fact I like the idea. But do those three names go?

Rosa because the Rosa I know is a beautiful woman.

DoctorBambino · 09/04/2020 14:02

I like Rosa, it sounds strong and pretty. Aurelia and Cecilia sound too pretentious to me. Favourite would be Cleo, then Rosa.

zen1 · 09/04/2020 14:02

Rosa Vivienne is lovely.

Orphlids · 09/04/2020 14:04

Cecelia is much nicer than Celia anyway, I think. I also really like Rosa. The simplicity of it makes it very classy. Also sounds lovely with Vivienne. Not quite so keen on Aurelia, but all your suggestions are good ones.

Umnoway · 09/04/2020 14:29

Cecelia is probably best. I like Aurelia but not in a British accent.

Whatsyourflava · 09/04/2020 14:33

Rosa is my favourite by a mile too. So classic simple but gorgeous

2nd fav Aurelia - lovely

Last choice Cecelia - sorry but I hate the sound of this name. Too harsh S sound

Whatsyourflava · 09/04/2020 14:34

Could you compromise on Rosa and agree that your husband can have more of a sway in the next child’s name

IslayBrigid · 09/04/2020 14:38

@whatsyourflava yes I think we could probably do this. I'm only 20 weeks so a while to go, but just excited about names!
He does like Rosa. Unless we think of one we both love more, I think she will be Rosa. And like you say, he could have more sway with next baby (maybe). Haha x

I like Rosa best of the three.

I like Cecilia (that is the usual spelling) but the meaning isn't great. Although St Cecilia is the patron saint of music, which is a much nicer association.

I'm not mad on Aurelia.

Rosa Vivienne is stunning.

AnnaNimmity · 09/04/2020 19:17

I suggest you go back to your partner and agree a shortlist of names you both like.

fwiw I didn't love all of my daughters' names (because my H wouldn't agree to my list, so we had to compromise) but it's fine once they're born.

out of your list - Cecilia is lovely. Strong and elegant. My dd is called it and loves her name. Less keen on Rosa tbh. Vivienne is lovely. I also love Margot which seems of a similar ilk?

CaffiSaliMali · 09/04/2020 20:39

Rosa is my favourite, followed by Aurelia and Cecelia. Rosa is on my own list if DH won't agree to a Welsh name.

Rosa Vivienne is lovely. They balance each other nicely.

Aurelia and Cecelia are both a bit frilly, and I would pair them with a simpler middle name, with Vivienne it's a little much IMO.

FH27 · 09/04/2020 21:19

I love Cecelia, i'm 23 weeks pregnant and we don't know what we are having but will definitely be considering Cecelia if we have a girl. Rosa is also a very pretty name and I love Vivienne both as a middle and a first name, I think you have lovely taste in names.

LotusClover · 10/04/2020 16:10

I've only ever seen it spelt Cecilia - never come across Cecelia before. However I like Rosa best.

MikeUniformMike · 10/04/2020 18:36

I prefer Rosa. Cecelia and Aurelia have the eeee-lia bit that I don't like about Amelia.

Cecilia2016 · 10/04/2020 19:00

I’m called cecilia and no one calls me Celia but the only thing I don’t like is when people start singing the song called cecilia you are breaking my heart

DennisTMenace · 10/04/2020 19:05

I like Rosa the best out of those names. I wouldn't be sure if Aurelia is pronounced with an ay or ee sound in the middle.

HelenaJustina · 10/04/2020 19:09

I have a Cecilia (the traditional spelling) and she is gorgeous so I’m biased!

motortroll · 10/04/2020 19:14

Cecelia ❤️❤️❤️

ncqtime · 10/04/2020 23:28

Not helpful at all but I love your name choices! Celia I also like
