C-section tomorrow and still no idea on what this little lady’s name is.

What’s your vote?

Thanks in advance 😊

Congratulations @Sheshallbenameless1 !!!

Love ALL your names apart from April as the “ape” sound at the staff isn’t great and sounds like a monkey - but other a downmarket name
I think 🙈
Etta Nancy and Pearl are so lovely though 🥰
Olive was my favourite too @Rio5555 so I’m sad that’s off the list

Congratulations!

Are you set on Etta as a full name? I was wondering if your DH might consider Harriet (aka Etta)? With one of his favourites as a middle name?

Riv12345 · 12/04/2020 06:34

I cnt see the update!!

What name did you choose?

Hope all went well 💐💐 xx

Riv12345 · 12/04/2020 06:36

Oops

I just saw it

Congratulations!!!!

So pleased for you well done 🥳🥳

Ladycoo1 · 12/04/2020 06:43

All lovely but I think my favourite is Pearl. Good luck.

Sheshallbenameless1 · 12/04/2020 07:00

Thanks so much everyone!

She’s only teeny at 5lbs 15oz so a delicate little Pearl does seem quite fitting....we’re thinking that that might be her name ❤️ I’ll update when we’ve decided for definite. Really appreciate all the lovely posts and opinions x

Congratulations!! Enjoy the newborn snuggles, xxx

Sheshallbenameless1 · 12/04/2020 08:25

Bit of a last minute addition to the party and I think it is becoming quite popular but DH has suggested Ada and it does feel like it suits her.

Do we like? I realise I don’t need to run everything by you lot but I do find the opinions really helpful 😊 x

Congrats OP! Ada is ok, but there will be lots of Avas of a similar age, so for that reason Pearl, Nancy, Etta or April feel more unusual.

Suggestions based on your shortlist, if this helps:
Juliet - nn Etta
Adeline or Adelaide - nn Ada (or Heidi is a traditional nickname for Adelaide I believe)
Avril - as alternate for April
Amber - sort of combining Pearl and April? (Sort of!)
Nina
Annie/Anna

Sparklypurpleunicornsaremyfav · 12/04/2020 09:58

Congratulations!!! 😍😍😍 Pearl sounds perfect for her, I like pearl Ada or Nancy pearl

Myfriendanxiety · 12/04/2020 10:01

I like Ada, it was on my shortlist.

I like Etta, but don’t like the others. Pearl and Olive are too old lady and not pretty enough.

My shortlist also had in case it helps;

Iris
Emmeline
Clara
Annabelle

Whatsyourflava · 12/04/2020 10:01

Ada is number 65 in the chart, so not exactly top 10 or anything but still much more commonly used than Pearl which is outside the top 200.
I personally love the name Ada and popularity probably wouldn’t put me off but have a think if it would bother you. There are quite a few similar (ish) names to Ada that are fairly popular too.
Having said all this, I go to a lot of baby groups and have never met an Ada yet @Sheshallbenameless1

LarkDescending · 12/04/2020 10:06

If you like Etta and Ada, how about Eda? Edie is sweet as a nn.

It’s all very close to the very popular Ava/Evie vibe though, so if you are concerned about that you may want to go in a different direction.

Sylvie?

Sheshallbenameless1 · 12/04/2020 10:34

@LarkDescending Sylvie is beautiful and is our DD1s name. So you’ve hit the nail on the head in terms of our taste!x

Whatsyourflava · 12/04/2020 10:37

How about Edith nn Edie?
Clementine nn Clemmie?
Margaret nn Maggie?

Whatsyourflava · 12/04/2020 10:37

Jemima?

Whatsyourflava · 12/04/2020 10:38

Martha?

Whatsyourflava · 12/04/2020 10:42

Greta nn Etta?

SE13Mummy · 12/04/2020 11:20

Ada is fabulous, makes me think of the mathematician Ada Lovelace, and is a lovely match for Sylvie.

Glitterbubbles · 12/04/2020 11:21

April is beautiful

MyNameHasBeenTaken · 12/04/2020 12:31

April always seems like a happy smiley name to me.
Etta is lovely too, as long as you pronounce t properly. Eh-uh is not good
Olive is a refreshing change from Olivia, but getting more popular now
Pearl is my aunts middle name. She is in her 50s and hates it. It was old fashioned when she was given it (according to her) and it's even worse now .
Nancy is ok. I was shocked to hear a baby Nancy a few years ago. But it has grown in me. Quite sweet.

Riv12345 · 12/04/2020 13:39

Eden is quite nice 🤔

TempsPerdu · 12/04/2020 13:43

Congratulations OP! DD is Greta with nn Ettie/Etta so I have a soft spot for that one. But Nancy is lovely too. My vote would be for either of those.

Pearl is quite nice but I see it as more of a middle name for some reason - I think because it’s one syllable and sounds awkward with some surnames? Not keen on April or Olive, and I think Ada has the potential to get very popular (the new Ava?).

Whatsyourflava · 12/04/2020 13:51

I really LOVE the name Pearl and wish it was my name tbh !
