Help!
My partner and I both a child each from previous relationships.
Baby number 3 is due in a few months. I love the name Lowen for this baby boy however my artners daughter is named Lola. Is this too similar?

It’s a bit of a mouthful together and Lowen isn’t very nice.

MamaGee09 · 08/04/2020 11:35

I wouldn’t use that boys name as the start sounds too similarl.

My children’s names aren’t spelt alike however does sound alike at the end and if I shout one, they both normally answer which gets annoying for myself and then the children.

Astronica · 08/04/2020 11:35

Too alike I think.

Lowen is just going to get misheard all the time for other more popular boy names
I also think Lowen and Lola are too similar, sorry

Whatsyourflava · 08/04/2020 11:39

Have you got any other options on your name list @Bumbles77

I think Kit or Barnaby would work well with Lola (gorgeous name btw)

Orphlids · 08/04/2020 12:31

I don’t think they’re too similar. And I rather like Lowen. Go for it if you love it.

AcrobaticCardigan · 08/04/2020 12:43

Way too similar.

whatausername · 08/04/2020 19:25

Very similar. What else have you considered? We might be able to help, if you like.

MikeUniformMike · 08/04/2020 20:27

Lowen is fine. They are step siblings.
I would assume a cornish connection. Owen is nice.

MimiSunshine · 08/04/2020 20:35

@MikeUniformMike they won’t be step siblings as they’ll share a dad.

OP I do think they are quite similar in sounds but what does your partner think?

Jossina · 08/04/2020 20:38

Why do you like Lowen so much? Does it have a special meaning to you or do you just like how it sounds/looks? Which bit of how it looks or sounds really appeals to you?

MikeUniformMike · 08/04/2020 20:47

Sorry, I meant half siblings.

user1493494961 · 08/04/2020 20:50

Very similar, I would choose something else.

OwlBasket · 08/04/2020 20:57

Too similar, yes.

How about Rowan?

Bumbles77 · 08/04/2020 21:25

My OH doesn't see a problem with them being similar. Especially as they are boy and girl and with my son, who's name is entirely different, sitting in between them.
It's niggling me slightly but I really do love the way the name sounds.
We also like Elijah-- he would be Eli for short. But I keep getting drawn back round to Lowen.

DramaAlpaca · 08/04/2020 21:42

I quite like Lowen, and it's fine with Lola.

babynamelover · 08/04/2020 21:55

What about Bowen? Or Bowie 😃

Sparklypurpleunicornsaremyfav · 09/04/2020 08:01

Elijah lowen

Lowen on its own is too similar

VenusClapTrap · 09/04/2020 08:20

Too similar

Mskatonic · 09/04/2020 08:41

I know siblings Maria and Marina, Vienna and Viola, Freddie and Frida. I don't think Lowen and Lola are too similar at all! Especially for half siblings.

MikeUniformMike · 09/04/2020 08:59

What would you use as a nn for Lowen? Will you end up with 2 called Lo?

Umnoway · 09/04/2020 14:28

Too alike and not keen on Lowen at all.

Whatsyourflava · 09/04/2020 14:31

Sorry Lowen isn’t good and too similar to Lola. Both might get shortened to “low” as well weather you like it or not.

Eli is gorgeous though
