Baby boy names?!

IndiaInds · 29/03/2020 20:00

Evening all!

I’m really struggling to choose a name for my baby boy and would love some opinions on my options so far, and any suggestions are welcomed.
Due to coronavirus I now have until June to register him but am feeling really awful just calling him the baby all the time :(

  • Maximilian/Maximiliano/Maximus
  • Azai
  • Aries
  • Adonis
  • Laurent
  • Théo
  • Zac/Zachary (love this name but very common so not keen)

I’m looking for a name that is not very common. Something different/unusual. I’m quite into strong Greek and Latin names also.

Not keen on Adonis or Aries - that's a lot to live up to!!
Maximilian is great. Always lovely Maxim as a nickname.

Blursula · 29/03/2020 20:03

I love Maximilian, but if you’re after names that aren’t common I’d avoid as Max is very popular.

I like Aries from your list. I also like Ariel.

IndiaInds · 29/03/2020 20:11

Forgot to add Roman on there as one of my options!

I like Zachary (Zac)
I like Theodore (Theo)

I don't mind Max, but not keen on any of the long versions

I wouldn't land any poor child (then man-to-be) with 'Adonis'. that's just not fair.

I wouldn't call a child a star sign

Don't like Laurent
Don't like / never heard of Azai

stairgates · 29/03/2020 20:32

Id go with Roman:)

villamariavintrapp · 29/03/2020 21:02

Well Theo, Max, Roman and zac are all fairly common. And the others aren't good. Especially Adonis!

s3tut0y3r · 29/03/2020 21:09

What about Leon? Or Claude is a bit different

TrentBridge · 29/03/2020 21:10

Roman is very popular now - is very much the equivalent of Ruby for a girl about 10 or so years ago

user1493494961 · 29/03/2020 21:40

I would ditch all the 'A' names.

Windyatthebeach · 29/03/2020 21:42

Maximus....

topcat2014 · 29/03/2020 21:43

Troy

LittleBeauPeep · 29/03/2020 21:56

Atlas
Cyrus
Latimer
Tudor
Hector

NuffSaidSam · 29/03/2020 22:00

You cannot call a child Adonis! That actually made me laugh.

You can't use Laurent unless you're French.

Aries is also a bit odd.

Roman is ok.

Max, Theo and Zac are all nice, but all popular.

Azai is the best from your list.

geekchicz · 29/03/2020 22:20

Fabian

whatausername · 31/03/2020 10:33

Is Azai pronounced "As I"?

Azai was reading your post I was wondering what your family background is? If you live in the UK, Théo will always end up pronounced th- and not tay- and the accent will nearly always be dropped. Laurent will also very very likely be butchered.

Adonis is approaching cruel.

Try saying these names out loud and introduce yourself by them. Do you feel totally at ease? That's the test I use when I'm at risk of getting carried away!

Whatsyourflava · 31/03/2020 11:57

Definitely avoid Roman if you’re wanting a name that “isn’t very common” @IndiaInds - you’ve picked the fastest rising boy name there which is set to be top 10 soon on current t trajectory. Loads of celebs are using it too.

riversideclyde · 31/03/2020 12:00

Jenson?

Flymetothestars · 31/03/2020 12:06

Roman is the top fastest rising boy name within top 100. Avoid it if you’re wanting something even slightly different. It’s jumped about 800 places in the charts so is the new “Isla” or “Noah”

How about:

Marley?
Otis?
Eric?
Peter? (Actually very rare)
Barnaby?
Sidney (Sid)?
Bodhi?
Tristan?
Eli?
Laurence (Laurie)?
Otto?

Standrewsschool · 31/03/2020 12:09

The A names - no. Adonis - no.

The other names are quite popular, apart from Laurent.

Suggestions:
Milo
Leo
Marcus
Julius
Augustus

Astronica · 31/03/2020 13:24

I love Maximilian, my favourite, and also like Théo and Zachary. Laurent is okay but I dislike the rest.

Forgot to add Roman on there as one of my options!

It so happens that Roman sprang to my mind as I was reading your OP. I really like it.

Instead of Aries - Aris for Aristides? That was my brother's name.

Staffori · 31/03/2020 13:32

I know a Zeus too. Grown up now.

Goostacean · 31/03/2020 13:35

We have a Constantine!

I also thought about David, Daniel, Maximilian/Max, Theo, Leo...

AlwaysAllegra · 31/03/2020 13:41

Troy
Theo
Maximus
Julius
Roman
