I know this is off topic and probably the wrong forum, but what are the rules now for registering a birth during lock down? And not being able to apply for child benefit without a birth certificate?

might be worth contacting the hospital, or the child benefit helpline on 0300 200 3100 (open 8am to 4pm)

I’ve just called our registrars about something else and on the preset message it said that only deaths will be allowed to be registered at this time.

So it seems that birth registering is on hold but I’d call the child benefit office about what impact that will have on you

More time to decide I suppose

I read somewhere they were extending how long you have to register but I can't remember how long for (they probably don't know themselves)

Birth registrations were cancelled from Wednesday.

You can still claim CB, just note on the form that birth could not be registered.

(It's making me sad, like baby isn't official yet.)
