The only name OH and I can agree on is Arthur, however it's popularity really puts me off - OH won't budge! Do you know many Arthur's? I know it's a top 10 name 😳

It's popular, but as it's a classic name it doesn't matter as much.

There might not be many Arthurs in your area, and even if you picked an obscure name, you could find that the name is popular in your area.

I don't personally know any young Arthurs but know about 5 older than 50.

Flymetothestars · 25/03/2020 16:01

I’ve not met one yet. It is popular but names aren’t like they used to be where 1 in every 5 men were called John in the 1900. It won’t be like sarah was in the 1980s either

Flymetothestars · 25/03/2020 16:02

Quite a few good nicknames for Arthur too so i imagine some will go by different names and if there were two in a class one could be Artie/Art and the other Arthur x

Flymetothestars · 25/03/2020 16:03

Incase it’s not obvious, I LOVE the name arthur x

Nonnymum · 25/03/2020 16:05

I know 3. Aged between 3 and 6. But does it matter if you both like it?

florascotia2 · 25/03/2020 17:14

Very popular, top ten:

But as others have said, if you like it ...

goldie04 · 25/03/2020 17:16

I know of 1 who is 4

blondie87 · 25/03/2020 17:18

I know 7 babies called Arthur but I love it!

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 25/03/2020 18:13

Don’t know any personal, but I’ve yet to be out and about without hearing one being called.

Flymetothestars · 25/03/2020 19:07

Why don’t you stick with Arthur as it’s so lovely but go for something more unusual as a middle name x

Mymymycorona · 25/03/2020 19:11

I know a couple of younger ones, all called Arty, but Arthur is a great name. I love Art.

userabcname · 25/03/2020 19:16

I know 5 Arthurs under 3

shirleyschmidt · 25/03/2020 19:20

I know of 3 and they're all 3-4 years old. Go for it, it's a great name!

Ikeameatballs · 25/03/2020 19:25

I know one.

If you like Arthur what about Walter? Nn Walt?

Bienentrinkwasser · 25/03/2020 19:29

I’ve met quite a few.

Staffori · 25/03/2020 21:23

The only one I've met would be in his sixties now. It's a classy historical name - if you love it, go for it.

mamablondie · 30/03/2020 18:12

I know two, and hear it around a lot right now. However, it was top of our list for boys so I guess it doesn’t matter? It’s lovely.

I know one who’s about 7. I think it’s a lovely name.

Akmnkers321 · 30/03/2020 19:24

If we have another boy he will be Arthur! We are in the US and it’s not even in the top 200 so not common at all here. Neither me or my husband have met one in our lives!

user246854 · 30/03/2020 19:29

I wouldn't say it was popular I work in two primary schools one with 230 pupils other with 115 and there is only 1 Arthur

Whoareyoudududu · 31/03/2020 15:17

Not massively popular, there are none in my DC’s school that they know of and never heard one at a baby group either. Think it’s a lovely classic name.

PetraRabbit · 31/03/2020 16:01

I don't know any I see regularly but I know of two Arthurs from Facebook friends, aged about 8 and about 6.

VenusClapTrap · 31/03/2020 16:26

I don’t know any. I was surprised to learn it’s so popular.
