Thoughts on Daniel?

Found out this week we're having a boy, we both quite like Daniel. Thoughts? Siblings are Phoebe and Luke.

Well my son is Daniel so I'd say go for it Smile
It's the only boys name we liked, you may get people who try to shorten it but we just say please do not call Daniel Dan or Danny as we don't like it being shortened, no offence meant we just don't like it), but apart from that

Not keen. I went to school with lots and they were always Dan or Danny and almost always arseholes for some reason.

I like Danny for a little boy, Dan for an older child and Daniel for a more professional sounding adult. Lovely, classic name that won't date.

I've always loved Dan and Danny, but not Daniel, oddly enough. The "nie" bit sounds really whiny.

Like it a lot. I know a Dan who is just Dan on bc - it's a name in itself.

My friend has a Daniel and I thought it was a tiny bit dated not in a good way when she chose it. I really love it now though and he really suits it.

And I have a spaniel, so thinking about it I probably couldn't have called another boy Daniel...

Yes my DAd says rhymes with Spaniel, but actualy a good traditional name can,t really go wrong.

Lovely. Real 'calssic' name that doesn't 'date' anyone. I've know Daniels' older than me, my age, and in every decade below me. Likely shortenings are lovely too - I love both Danny and Dan, but quite a lot of Daniel's also use their full name.
Easy to spell and easy to pronounce in the unlikely event someone hadn't heard of it.

good name goes really well with your others :) have only know lovely ones :) know an 11 yr old and he is always Daniel never shortened by anyone...

Well it wouldn’t be one of my names, but I can see the appeal. It belongs in any class.
It’s strong sensible and not faddy. It suits all ages. There’s not much to dislike about the name, is there.
I’m not keen on Danny though. If I did use it and till he said for himself, he’d have to be either Daniel or Dan.

Eldest is Daniel though we’ve never called him that though
He’s Danny to us and at school but he has the option to use what ever he wants when he’s old enough
