DH and I are bickering like cat and dog at the moment as we cannot mutually decide on a name!

My favourites are:

James
Lewis
Ollie

Ideally middle name Iain.

DH's favourites are

Myles
Josh
Finn
Nicholas
Abel
Drew
Rex

Any ideas that aren't too out there but still unusual? Cannot think of any more. I'm sad that I probably won't get my little James, I see him as James already Sad

Why doesn’t your DH like James? It’s such a gorgeous name that’s such a shame. If it’s due to popularity, the name has been on a downward trajectory year on year every year for the past 25 years. The name left the top 20 in 2018 and will be even further down the charts by the time the 2020 stats are released. You might pick a more “unusual” name that ends up booming and there’s more two of them in the class and no one called James in the school.

Will think of suggestions for you though x

Put your foot down and call the baby Lewis!

(Not keen on most of your DH's selection! Wink )

I don’t think you’re too far apart in style.

Would Jamie work, or Nico for Nicolas for eg. Or Louis.

Giles.

James - love it
Lewis - ok but wouldn't choose it
Ollie - Oliver is very popular
Myles - dislike the spelling. Miles is nice.
Josh - no
Finn - nice but a bad boy name
Nicholas - like
Abel - not sure...probably a no.
Drew - no
Rex - fine

It depends on your surname.

James Box is great Rex Box is not.

Have you narrowed the shortlist at all yet @BelleBox19

I LOVE Myles Josh Finn and Rex. Not so sure about some of the others

If you can't decide and the baby will have his surname, then it's obviously your choice I'm afraid...

Tardly · 15/03/2020 18:04

And if you've actually taken his surname too then you get choice of both first and middle name!

Tardly · 15/03/2020 18:05

Oh and James is definitely the best of that lot, along with Nicholas.
