This is as an alternative to Arietty which I don't like, and Ariella which I love but reminds me a bit too much of areola. I'm pronouncing it with a short 'a' as in apple.

It's a pretty name but it sounds a bit like someone said Harrietta and dropped the H. Depending on common accents where you are people may not realise she's not Harrietta until she has to correct their spelling

@CoalCraft interesting thought, that hadn't crossed my mind. Where I live most people would say the 'H' sound so I don't think it would be a common mistake, but something to consider!

This may not be a problem for you, but just in case: in music terminonlgy, an arietta is a little song/ a little aria.

I used to work with an Aristy, and Arietta reminds me of that name. Ari and Etta would both make a nice nickname.

@florascotia2 the meaning is part of the draw for me 😊 we also like Aria but it's a bit too 'Game of Thrones' these days for my liking.

I really like it and I'm also from somewhere H is pronounced and would never assume Harrietta.

I was teaching a little girl called Abriella today at Sunday school - thought it was a lovely name.
