I love short names and currently these 2 are the only ones I like that are still quite classic. Which is better though - Ben or Jack?

I prefer Ben short for Benjamin, so Jack.

Astronica · 07/03/2020 12:46

I like both but prefer Jack.

daisypond · 07/03/2020 13:10

Jack.

Whatsyourflava · 07/03/2020 13:17

I like both but also prefer Jack

Peachbubble · 07/03/2020 13:20

Jack

issybaker · 07/03/2020 13:23

Ben. The name can be long and short depending on what he wants. Whereas jack Cannot be shortened or made longer.
So Ben

Lavenderblues · 07/03/2020 13:32

Jack

Ben is a nickname for Benedict or Benjamin. It sounds unfinished as just Ben.

Cookit · 07/03/2020 13:51

If it’s short for Benedict or Benjamin, then Ben. If it’s just Ben then I would go for Jack.

Ben

Carouselfish · 07/03/2020 16:22

Jack

SaltedCaramelEverything · 07/03/2020 16:28

Jack is classic - love it

Grufallosfriends · 07/03/2020 16:37

Ben sounds unfinished.

Jack is dull from overuse

DramaAlpaca · 07/03/2020 17:16

Agree with others, Ben sounds unfinished. As a diminutive of either Benjamin or Benedict it's great.

Jack is nice too, but not really classic. John, from which it originally derives, is the classic version, but Jack is nicer than John.

I have a Ben (5 year old), and he is gorgeous 🥰😂. He’s the only one in his class year (unlike jack) and is just strong, class, beautiful name! Xxx

Carpathian2 · 07/03/2020 21:28

I have a Ben and a Jack! Both of them are lovely and we have a long surname, so chose short names.

Good choices OP 😉

ellenpartridge · 07/03/2020 21:42

Jack if Ben wouldn't be Benjamin

RoseMartha · 07/03/2020 21:43

Ben

ArriettyJones · 08/03/2020 00:15

Either. Lovely names.

pilates · 08/03/2020 02:45

Jack, love it 😍

Aebj · 08/03/2020 02:47

Ben but on birth birth certificate put Benjamin , so he can use either name

BasiliskStare · 08/03/2020 02:54

My 23 year old has a coulpe of Ben friends - suits them now they are older as well as when they were little and cute ( I do think both are actually Benjamin but for all normal life known as Ben )

I like Jack but then John is one of my very favourite names ( of which Jack is a diminutive ) So I would go John ( Jack) and then Benjamin or Benedict - Ben - because I would give them the choice to have the more classic name if they choose when they are older ( Most of Ds's friends called Ben don't - they just choose Ben )

Anyway Nic165 - not sure you can go too far wrong with either of those - all best to you
