Hiya,

Do you know many Orson's? Trying to see if it's on the rise or not x

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Sleeplessinsaltend · 05/03/2020 13:30

I know one. It’s a great name imo

Surly · 05/03/2020 13:34

Desperate housewives comes to mind for me

trevthecat · 05/03/2020 13:47

I know one. 5 weeks old. Parents are living in the UK but are American

trevthecat · 05/03/2020 13:47

Oh and just adding, I really like it

Whatsyourflava · 05/03/2020 13:51

I’d check the stats to see if it’s on the rise or not as you’ll get a clearer idea

Sounds a bit too similar to “awesome” for my liking. Bit of pressure if the kid is bang average (which statistically he is likely to be)

BobbyBlueCat · 05/03/2020 13:53

I don't like the sound of it.

Tifsy · 05/03/2020 13:56

I've not seen Desperate Housewives, was he a bad guy in it?

It ticks a lot of boxes for us, means bear cub, Orson Welles, Star Wars & has literary links. We were debating if it sounds too much like "awesome" and "arson" though?

I've never met one but it makes me think of a horse... my brain just keeps saying "orson cart"

Whatsyourflava · 05/03/2020 18:10

It definitely does sound exactly like awesome OP. If that bothers you don’t use it

Tifsy · 05/03/2020 18:23

Awesome i don't mind, Arson i do lol! x

I love it, it was on my final shortlist for DS1 but OH chickened out (also doesn't really have a good shortening, apart from Sonny maybe). Never heard of another one.

Wallabyone · 05/03/2020 18:35

It just reminds me of the old tv show Mork and Mindy. Also, I taught a really quirky child called Orson, so I think of him too.

Mallory29 · 06/03/2020 07:28

Love it, never met one.

LaLaLaLa22 · 06/03/2020 07:29

No but it's nice :)

Guacamole · 06/03/2020 07:31

Maybe because I’m a certain age, but when I saw the name Orson the first thing that popped into my head was... Mork calling Orson, come in Orson.

Guacamole · 06/03/2020 07:32

Oh and to answer your question, nope I’ve never met a Orson.

DCIRozHuntley · 06/03/2020 07:36

I know and love an Orson who is nearly 1. It's not to my taste but it suits him. His parents have him a big standard middle name (think James or John) because they felt it balanced it out. Our preschoolers all call him Awesome though Grin... No pressure!

Elisheva · 06/03/2020 07:36

Makes me think of Orson Scott Card - fabulous author.

Janaih · 06/03/2020 07:38

Ors for short Grin

Monmonga · 06/03/2020 07:40

I haven't met one, great name! Reminds me of Orson's farm though from Garfield comics. He is a well meaning but not particularly bright pig. 😊

WouldShouldCould · 06/03/2020 07:41

Another than only thinks of Cart. I've only met one irl.

Rosalo · 06/03/2020 07:53

Mork and Mindy here too

Or Orson Cart.

Carouselfish · 06/03/2020 19:11

Argh!!! I wanted this to feature somewhere if I had a boy as very into Welles. I thought that I was being so original too!!

Manyminieggs · 06/03/2020 21:01

Orson. This is Mork calling Orson. Come in Orson.

😁

No one from your kid's generation is going to know that though. Maybe not even your depending on your age!

Phine83 · 18/08/2020 14:08

I'm biased because i have one but I love the name Orson!! I think it's going to get more popular though.
What's the star wars reference?
