What are your thoughts on this name for a girl? Wanting a pretty, recognisable but fairly unusual name. Big sister is Ariadne. Thank you!

It's nice.

BuffaloCauliflower · 23/02/2020 18:29

Pretty

GetTheSprinkles · 23/02/2020 18:37

Very pretty. Does make me instantly think of the singer Paloma Faith though

MotherOfAllNameChanges · 23/02/2020 18:38

Love

Fantasiaa · 23/02/2020 18:39

Nothing obviously wrong with it.
Not common.

user764329056 · 23/02/2020 18:45

Too over-associated with Paulina Faith IMO

user764329056 · 23/02/2020 18:46

Sorry, ‘Paloma’ not Paulina

june2007 · 23/02/2020 18:50

Yes nice name.

Rachelhaydenberk1 · 23/02/2020 18:50

I'm in love with Paloma! My fave combo is Paloma Leonne.

Doodlesquah1 · 23/02/2020 18:52

Means dove in Spanish. I’m not overly keen but it’s unusual and I think that’s a good thing so go for it!

Mallory29 · 23/02/2020 19:06

Thank you! Is it a bit “weak” sounding next to Ariadne? A bit frilly? I also LOVE Hermione but it feels a bit similar with the “ne” ending, am I overthinking?

What else might I like? We can’t use Josephine, Theodora/Dorothea or Penelope.

I went to university with a girl called Colombe (also means dove) and I always thought it was far prettier and more unusual than Paloma.

Doodlesquah1 · 23/02/2020 19:16

Ariadne and Angeline
Ariadne and Marceline
Ariadne and Emmeline
Ariadne and Persephone (very theme-y)
Ariadne and Oceane
Ariadne and Carolina
Ariadne and Valentina
Ariadne and Valeria
Ariadne and Ombeline
Ariadne and Adela
Ariadne and Aurelia
Ariadne and Ophelia
Ariadne and Marina
Ariadne and Leonore/Leonora

Wintersun13 · 23/02/2020 19:44

If you want to stick with the Greek theme you might consider Artemis / Athena / Helen...

I'm afraid I personally don't love the name Paloma. I'm not keen on the sound of most names starting with P. Also not overly keen on the meaning.

Rootd · 23/02/2020 19:48

Sounds like a type of malignancy if I'm honest. It's just not a very pretty sounding name to me.

pipilangstrumpfi · 23/02/2020 19:49

Beautiful name

ExtraFox18 · 23/02/2020 19:53

I adore this name.

percheron67 · 23/02/2020 20:03

villamariavintrapp · 23/02/2020 21:18

I love it!

NoSauce · 23/02/2020 21:52

It’s beautiful.

Rachelhaydenberk1 · 24/02/2020 02:13

They are definitely really different but is that bad? I love Paloma.

But other suggestions:
Helena
Calista
Thalia
Demi
Charisma
Corinna
Cosima
Hester or Hesper
Ilona
Ilaria
Leandra

Mallory29 · 24/02/2020 08:49

Love Cosima and Helena! Thank you.

Yes Cosima is great. I like Paloma too.

Marcipex · 24/02/2020 09:20

I quite like it, can’t summon any enthusiasm tho. It’s a bit weak somehow.
I like Xanthe and think it’s as strong as Ariadne. Callista is lovely too.

Mallory29 · 24/02/2020 09:32

Xanthe is lovely too, is it too matchy with Ariadne though? X would be a great initial!
