Hello,
What do you think of Jesse for a boy? What will work as a middle name. And he will have a big brother Called Ben, do you think Ben & Jesse work well together?
Thank you!!!

I love it. I like the sound of Jesse Daniel, or Jesse Dennis?

yatapina · 22/02/2020 21:39

I like it but wouldn't use it here as it has been taken over by some homophobic arseholes people as a term to belittle a bloke for showing any "effeminate" behaviours 😡

Lavenderblues · 22/02/2020 22:02

I know a few girls called Jess/Jessie short for Jessica.

ohnooutofdateham · 22/02/2020 22:03

Nooo! It's an insult in Scotland (and I believe some places in the north of England).

Wintersun13 · 22/02/2020 22:32

Jesse sounds fine to me but I'm not british so not aware of possible slang issues or bad associations.

As for middle names, what would work also depends on your last name. I'd suggest something that starts with a consonant since the first name ends with a vowel.

Lironlavie1 · 22/02/2020 22:48

Lucky we are not in Scotland 😂🤣 But yeah I’m aware of “you big Jessie” thing, but not heard anyone under age 60 saying that. I’m not worried about that tbh. We live in a big city and It’s 2020! 😉

I don't like Jesse because I always think is it Jess or Jessie.

But also Ben and Jessie sounds like Ben and Jerry, the ice cream company.

Also, don't know if you're aware but it's mega popular at the moment. A bit like Jax. They are popping up all over the place.

So it's a no for me.

Lironlavie1 · 22/02/2020 23:07

Thank you, I didn’t know it’s popular! X

It's hideous.
And doesn't go with Ben at all. Very different styles of name.

M0reGinPlease · 22/02/2020 23:13

Love it but wasn't brave enough to use it. We seriously considered it but when I was pregnant Breaking Bad was out and we didn't want people thinking we'd named our son after a Crystal meth dealer. But, meh, I'm sure people can't remember that now.

Whatsyourflava · 22/02/2020 23:31

I absolutely love it @Lironlavie1 such a great and have added it to my list

It’s number 75 in name charts so Dex not mega common but also not completely obscure - percent !

Whatsyourflava · 22/02/2020 23:32

Everythingsr0sie · 22/02/2020 23:43

I LOVE Jesse but DH really wasn’t keen.

Jesse James (after Wood, not the cowboy)

Fairenuff · 23/02/2020 00:08

Yes, very popular OP which is why you'll probably get loads of people saying they love it.

Whatsyourflava · 23/02/2020 00:11
  • def not

Sorry for all the typos !

Astronica · 23/02/2020 01:58

I dislike it.

Peachbubble · 23/02/2020 07:18

Sorry, don't like it and don't think it goes with Ben

johnwayneisbigleggy · 23/02/2020 07:26

I love it.
What about William as a middle name, or Samuel?

Lekky12 · 23/02/2020 07:33

I have a Max Jesse. I chose the Max , dad chose Jesse. Sure it would be unusual but I like it, if you like it, go for it!

Rosesarere · 23/02/2020 07:40

I have a 7 year old Jesse, I still love his name

missanony · 23/02/2020 07:44

I really like it but it gets mispronounced as Jess and confused for a girl. I was quite surprised that people don’t seem to get the name - it was more unusual than I thought

Lorddenning1 · 23/02/2020 07:47

My DS 3 is called Jesse, everyone tells me how much they love his name, lots of famous people called Jesse so it's not unusual for a boy. His older brother is called Harry and I think it works well. He doesn't have a middle name as his last name also starts with J too. It's one of the oldest names in the bible and we had to have fertility treatment to get him, Jesse also means a gift from god.
I think the don't be such a "Jesse" is a generation thing and I doubt any kids at school will of heard of it, it's a stupid saying anyways. He is so cheeky and likes to make people laugh, so his nickname is "Jester"

Sulkypatsy · 23/02/2020 07:53

These are two of my brother's names! Go for it

Lavenderblues · 23/02/2020 08:26

It might get shortened to Jess? That seems a girls name.

Omashu · 23/02/2020 08:43

I really love it!
