Would you call your son Robin if the surname is Green?

Yes. Why not?

Although I’m not keen on the name Robin!

ChewChewIsMySpiritAnimal · 22/02/2020 08:12

No i wouldn't. I don't like how they are both a similar length and both end in N. Plus, robin hood wears green.

notacooldad · 22/02/2020 08:14

I wouldn't call a child Robin no matter what the second name is

Ihaveamind · 22/02/2020 08:14

I would if I liked the name Robin. Its not an obvious no like Theresa Green.
Robson Green seems to do fine!

MuscatelGrapes · 22/02/2020 08:15

No, it sounds like an AA Milne character.

BluntAndToThePoint80 · 22/02/2020 08:17

Yes I would. Robin was on my list of boys names - classic but not too common. Love it. No issue with surname either.

joystir59 · 22/02/2020 08:25

Robin is a silly sort of name imo

BadCatDirtyCat · 22/02/2020 08:26

I like it a lot!

embolass · 22/02/2020 08:29

Eh no! The fact your asking must mean you have doubts, listen to those doubts. Robbie? much more acceptable.

mondler · 22/02/2020 11:00

I think it works fine x

Wintersun13 · 22/02/2020 11:06

Robbie is the diminutive of Robin so I'm not sure why it'd be more acceptable.

Anyway, most people seem to be commenting on the name rather than the association firstname-lastname, which is what the op asked about.

Personally I wouldn't because I don't like rhyming names (crossed Nathan off my list for this reason), but there's nothing intrinsically wrong with doing so. It really depends on whether you like the sound of both names together or not.

Whatsyourflava · 22/02/2020 11:08

Robin Green would be a really lovely name 🥰🥰 very nearly called my son Robin. Regret I didn’t use it

Standrewsschool · 22/02/2020 11:12

Yes, fine.

MartyrGuacamole · 22/02/2020 11:28

The only Robin I know is a girl. I don't think Robin Green goes together very well.

DramaAlpaca · 22/02/2020 13:21

No. Too much potential for Robin Hood jokes.

BluntAndToThePoint80 · 22/02/2020 17:24

@MartyrGuacamole

I thought it was Robyn for a girl and Robin for a boy.

user1493494961 · 22/02/2020 18:28

I think it's OK, it's not as if your surname is Banks.

Littlemissdaredevil · 22/02/2020 19:57

I love the name Robin. I dont know why it has fallen out of fashion. It’s on my shortlist but DH has vetoed it Sad

MikeUniformMike · 22/02/2020 20:33

Robins aren't green they are red.
He will get a lifetime of similar comments.
Robin Greenbreast.

Whynosnowyet · 22/02/2020 20:35

Robson obviously!!

Tillygetsit · 23/02/2020 01:15

Immediately thought of Robin Hood.

Rachelhaydenberk1 · 23/02/2020 01:56

I dont see an issue with it - Robin Green - its quite nice!

Rachelhaydenberk1 · 23/02/2020 02:00

If your last name was Hood I would see an issue. Green is nothing like Hood? What because in the animated film made like 30 years ago, he wore green? I dont think in other adaptations he is always wearing a bright green outfit? So I think people are being overly critical!
My first thought was Rachel Green from Friends actually. That name always flowed very well. And obviously Robin is a boy so that association is also silly. But for what it's worth, I think Robin Green sounds nice!
