Ettaline

I met a lady (about 70 yo) the other day and her name was Ettaline. I only saw her name written down, so I'm not sure how it was pronounced. Presumably Etta - line, like Caroline. But maybe Etta -leen or even Etta - Lyn? Its pretty written down but maybe not so great when pronounced.

I love names (hence I hang out here a lot) and it made me think of you lot, as it is looks like it is a bit of a hybrid/made up name which is always thought of a modern thing, but this lady being 70ish it seems to have happened in the past too.

Not sure of the point of this post , just general musing.

It's kind of nice.... like Etta as a nn more than I like the name itself. Could be a goer for someone who wants something with a vintage vibe that isn't popular (at all!)

I'm not sure about it. I love Etta, but I have to say my first thought was that it was some sort of chemical! God knows what I'm thinking of. Said out loud though, I LOVE Ettalynne.

I read it and pronounced it as rhyming with Caroline and I think it's really pretty, Etta is a sweet nn - about to mention this to DH & see what he thinks of it

I've seen this name before OP, spelled -lene at the end so presumably pronounced Etta-leen. Much prettier than just Etta, which I'm guessing is where it stems from.
