I was wondering your thoughts on Charlie for a boy? I really love it, always have.

My only reservation is that I'm Charlotte. I am not known by Charlie at all however is it a bit too close?
I think it's fine, my husband needs convincing.

Lovely. People will think he's named after you, but so what?

Blaccat · 19/02/2020 22:53

True! And not a bad thing Wink

I think it’s a great choice. If your nickname was Charlie it’d be weird but seen as it’s not I think you’re good to go!

Love the name and it wouldn't put me off Smile

My cousin is called Michelle Angela and named her daughter, Angela Michelle. When people asked her why she named her daughter with her names, she got quite cross! She said, "People name their kids after their fathers all the time. Why can't I name my daughter after me?!" It was a good question with a good response so no one ever questioned her again.

My granddaughter has the name Charlotte, her father, my son has the name Charles, his father is Charles, his mother was called Carolina and her father was Carlos. They're all Variations of the same name. Charlie is a great name!

Hopefully Charles with the nn Charlie not just Charlie.

Astronica · 20/02/2020 04:29

I think it's fine. If you're not called Charlie I don't think it will be confusing.

nameymcnamechangeagain · 20/02/2020 04:32

I love Charlie. It’s my dads name and I do have parties regret for not naming either of my sons Charlie!

nameymcnamechangeagain · 20/02/2020 04:33

Partial regret*

Blaccat · 20/02/2020 08:47

Jossina why?
I love Charlie but not a massive fan of Charles but could live with it if we NN

So glad it's not weird.
Charlie is definitely my fav name for a boy
Thank you for all your feedback

I don’t think you need Charles on the birth certificate at all @Blaccat

I’ve got the shortened version of my name on my birth certificate and it’s always made things really easy for me!

Jossina · 20/02/2020 23:03

Blaccat I just think it's a bit limiting to name your child a nickname. Not every boy IS a Charlie, especially not all their lives. At least with Charles he has a few options.

Love Charlie, my son is called Charlie he has always been such a good boy, he is now in his 20s and is still a treasure to me, hard working, kind and loves his mum. X
