Have I lost it? Is this terrible?! For a boy.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Winterfellismyhome · 17/02/2020 20:44

Sounds more like a dogs name

BobbyBlueCat · 17/02/2020 20:45

It's awful.

And in some regional accents will sound even worse.

ILikePaperHats · 17/02/2020 20:46

Dictionary definition is that a roscoe is a hand-gun! That would put me off

badg3r · 17/02/2020 20:49

@Winter hmm yes this is what I fear my brain is trying to tell me. For clarity I am naming a human boy, not a canine. Although apparently there are as many Roscoes born in 2018 as baby Rosses.

Not a good idea if you live in Greater Manchester, it’s the name of a pretty infamous roundabout which is mentioned regularly on the traffic news.

Eleanor90 · 17/02/2020 20:51

I like it!

zen1 · 17/02/2020 20:53

Can’t get past The Dukes of Hazzard.

VerbenaGirl · 17/02/2020 20:54

Dukes of Hazard!

strawberrylipgloss · 17/02/2020 21:08

Makes me think of Tesco and Costco

strawberrylipgloss · 17/02/2020 21:09

Or Seb Coe (Sebastian Coe)

AppleKatie · 17/02/2020 21:10

Don’t do it.

helpmum2003 · 17/02/2020 21:10

Dukes of Hazard too sorry.

AppleKatie · 17/02/2020 21:10

Well unless you want him to grow up to be a 50s gangster then maybe.

Ludways · 17/02/2020 21:10

Peeee Coltrane

corduroyal · 17/02/2020 21:16

That's a surname

Crabonastick · 17/02/2020 21:20

So this was our name for DC3 is she would have been born a boy. Other names we considered

  • Casper
  • Axel
  • Jackson

I hate them all now Blush

Apart from Casper

badg3r · 17/02/2020 21:23

😂😂😂 these responses are brilliant!! Ok. Not Roscoe. Although there are apparently 17 of them in England turning two this year.

OP posts:
AppleKatie · 17/02/2020 21:30

England’s a big country. I know 17 idiots and I don’t know that many people 😂

nocoolnamesleft · 17/02/2020 21:32

I know several Roscoes. But only because that's their surname.

emilybrontescorsett · 17/02/2020 21:36

Awful.

Liverbird77 · 18/02/2020 09:03

It is also the name of a chicken chain in the US
Google "Come to Roscoe's"

LuckyMarmiteLover · 18/02/2020 10:37

Sheriff Roscoe P Coltrane, Dukes of Hazzard Grin

TatianaLarina · 18/02/2020 10:43

I know an Australian called this. He’s a great guy.

I don’t see that it’s any different from any of the other surnames as names popular with people on here.

TatianaLarina · 18/02/2020 10:44

What about just Ross?

IVflytrap · 18/02/2020 12:24

I like the sound of it. It's a shame it seems to have negative connotations.
