It's that or Evangeline...

I much prefer Evangeline but don’t dislike Calista.

Like it! Funnily enough I'm watching Ally MacBeal starring Harrison Ford's squeeze Calista Flockheart.

I prefer Calista of the two. Lovely name.

I absolutely love Callista and nn Callie. I agree with the others that it's better being spelled with the double L as that's the correct Greek. It's a great myth, slightly grim but aren't they all and hey she ended up as a constellation!

Evangeline is a very pretty name but to me there's no comparison with Callista :-)

I love it. I knew someone with a pet spider called Callista and have always thought it was beautiful. I equally think Evangeline is a beautiful name but I think it's a shame to shorten it to Evie, which she would get.

Overall I like the sound and feel of Evangeline better, but Callista has better shortenings and I think is somehow cooler 🙈 and so would probably prefer my daughter to be called it? I THINK?

For me, the reason I prefer Callista is that I actively dislike Evangeline. Too flowery, too many soft sounds, too openly religious, too Victorian (therefore many years out of date for that style of name), too bland when shortened to the inevitable Evie. But these might be reasons why you like it.

Yeh. It’s evangelist - vagina - Vaseline. None of this is good.
