Thoughts on Swedish names Vidar and Rune

I'm Swedish, hubby is English. Would love to call our son the Swedish name Vidar (pronounced Vee-dahr) but as he will probably grow up in the UK I want a name that works well among English speakers. What do you think of the name? What does it bring to mind? Also have you heard it before?

We're also talking about Rune which I really like but I'm worried it's a bit too larpy, like we wanted him to sound like a Vikings character...

How about Rasmus?

I don’t like Rune, especially pronounced to rhyme with prune, because it makes me think of prunes. The other one is okay but I don’t love it.

Love Rune
Not keen on Vidar

My husband is Asian and it was definitely hard to find a name that works in English and his language without having to have some weird pronunciation in one language.

In the end, we just said fuck it and gave him an Asian first name and English middle name without thinking too much about what people will say. I have a really common English name and people still manage to fuck it up (think Joan but people say Joanne) so honestly it happens whatever you call your kid.

Rune definitely sounds hippyish to me, Vidar is better but not sure I'd use it. But if you like it, that's what matters.

Vidar would remind me of Vader so I wouldn't use that.
