Which do you prefer and why? Thanks!

Francis

Whatsyourflava · 10/02/2020 10:51

I love Arthur
Find Francis a bit wet and harsh S sound particularly when used in context of “that’s Francis’ bag”. Also gather it gets shortened to Frankie a lot which I don’t like either. It’s not awful though

CatherineOfAragonsPomegranate · 10/02/2020 10:52

Francis. Arthur always sounds old man to me, sorry

Urkiddingright · 10/02/2020 11:28

Arthur. Francis is an old man or woman to me 🤷🏻‍♀️

Lilyrabbit · 10/02/2020 11:44

Arthur over Francis

MamasAndPapas · 10/02/2020 11:50

Arthur.

17caterpillars1mouse · 10/02/2020 12:29

Francis. Its a name with a lot of history, well known but not a name you come across everyday.

I know so many little Arthur's, it's a nice name just lost its spark for me due to overuse

Emthebaker · 10/02/2020 12:38

Arthur.. I agree with PP that Francis is a bit wet sounding, but Arthur is my absolute favourite boys name!

Grufallosfriends · 10/02/2020 12:42

Francis is a more classic and timeless! Strong manly name imo.

Arthur is having a huge surge in popularity and will inevitably fall out fashion, sounding dated.

Grufallosfriends · 10/02/2020 12:42

What does 'wet' even mean? Confused

CandyApple1995 · 10/02/2020 12:47

I love Francis!

BobbyBlueCat · 10/02/2020 12:53

Arthur.

Francis is 'weak' and a bit wet.

GrumpyHoonMain · 10/02/2020 12:58

Arthur.

Francis is fodder for teasing. A female friend of mine used to be called fanny franny and she hated it.

ellenpartridge · 10/02/2020 13:05

Arthur though Frankie is quite sweet

Peachbubble · 10/02/2020 13:38

Arthur, as just don't like Francis

Astronica · 10/02/2020 13:40

Arthur. I don't like Francis though do like Frank as the full name.

Grufallosfriends · 10/02/2020 14:06

Francis is fodder for teasing.

Really? What's tease worthy about it?

I could see William being teased due to the Willy but Francis?!

marshallrubblechaserockyzoomer · 10/02/2020 14:26

Arthur but I'm biasSmile

BabyItsAWildWorld · 10/02/2020 19:19

Francis is classic underused.

Arthur is currently trendy.

Strugglingtoquit · 10/02/2020 19:46

Arthur

Like PP I feel Francis sounds a bit wet

Wheresthebiffer2 · 10/02/2020 20:50

I get confused over which is the male/female version.
Frances is the female name.
Francis is the male name. But I always have to double think it.

GirlsInGreen · 10/02/2020 21:01

Francis

Babybatman · 10/02/2020 21:11

Tough one, probably Francis. Arthur has become very overused and I still struggle to imagine it on a baby despite meeting quite a few!
I like the option of Frankie with Francis, it's definitely not wet.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 10/02/2020 21:22

I don't like either particularly, but if pushed I'd say Arthur. There'll be so many around it won't be an unusual name. At least it's not Archie...

JollyGiraffe12 · 10/02/2020 23:33

I prefer Francis, sounds fresher
