We love Louise and Eloise but are having second thoughts. Suggestions?

We wanted to call our DD Louise OR Eloise but my family have thick Norfolk accents (I don't have the accent as I was raised in Cambridge and got moved back to Norfolk in my teens) and since they've found out the names we like every time they say it all I can hear is a nasal emphasis on the Weeees/Waaays sound and it's putting me off (Eloways/Louaays).
I'm not a snob I swear to you lol. I actually love the Norfolk accent it sounds like home but we're reconsidering our choices and open to suggestions.

Please can you suggest some timeless, feminine girl names inspired by our favourites Louise and Eloise. We may even ending up using Eloise or Louise as middle name if it fits. TY :) !!!

I like Louise, how about Louisa? It sounds pretty and modern but still has a traditional sound to it.

Ninkanink · 09/02/2020 12:34

Evangeline

Désirée

ritalove · 09/02/2020 12:34

Yes we have been contemplating this as it shortens the wees sound. Thank you.

Lucy or Lisa? Similar with shorter vowels

BareBelliedSneetch · 09/02/2020 12:39

I much prefer Louisa to both Louise and Eloise.

Elodie instead of Eloise

bridgetreilly · 09/02/2020 13:49

Lois.

IrishMamaMia · 09/02/2020 13:56

I like Louisa too. So regal and European. Eloise is also lovely.
Elizabeth as another alternative?

Flymetothestars · 09/02/2020 14:26

Elodie is gorgeous @ritalove

MikeUniformMike · 09/02/2020 14:28

Louisa gets my vote. Lovely name.

Boireannachlaidir · 09/02/2020 14:31

Elysia

Rachelhaydenberk1 · 09/02/2020 15:17

I like Elara but that might be a little out there for you! But it's a beautiful, not overly used name and Elouise has a similar sound so it made me think of it!

I agree that Louisa is very stunning as well! Or Elodie maybe?

Rachelhaydenberk1 · 09/02/2020 15:18

Just saw your note about the dog. Elodia maybe then?

bridgetreilly · 09/02/2020 15:52

You can't have a dog called Melody and a child called Elodie!

Rachelhaydenberk1 · 09/02/2020 16:03

Haha that is why I changed my suggestion to Elodia or Alodia. I think its stunning personally but I love Greek names. I think they are elegant and strong!

Pigsmightfly212 · 10/02/2020 11:27

I heard someone calling "Eloisa" in the park recently and thought how pretty it sounded.

JollyGiraffe12 · 10/02/2020 23:37

Louisa is pretty. Have you considered Elyse, Lois, Alice?
