Hi, so we I'm due to have a little boy in a few weeks but this time round seem to be so stuck on names! I'd like something a little bit unusual but we cannot agree on anything! This evening my husband has given me a list of names he likes, I think I'm just going to have to agree on one of them as he is so stubborn 🙈 please could I have peoples opinions on them. The middle name will be Michael.

Albert
Arthur
George
Henry
Hugo

Thank you in advance!

Love Hugo!

emmathedilemma · 06/02/2020 19:01

I like them all except Hugo which I think is a bit pretentious (very middle class)

NoSauce · 06/02/2020 19:01

Love them all. I would probably choose Arthur or George.

Whatsyourflava · 06/02/2020 19:06

Could the first name be Michael if you’re wanting something on the unusual side it’s very underused
How about peter?

I really love your list though. Arthur and Hugo especially

Istillgetjealous · 06/02/2020 19:08

I wouldn’t have George Michael.
I love Henry. Really really dislike Albert

BecauseReasons · 06/02/2020 19:11

I prefer George, but couldn't realistically name a kid 'George Michael'

NoSauce · 06/02/2020 19:29

Michael is only a middle name. George Michael was a gorgeous person, I can think of worse people to be named after.

BecauseReasons · 06/02/2020 20:01

I don't like the idea of naming after any celebrities, no matter how gorgeous, but that's just me. OP may be a huge GM fan for all I know.

lvra · 06/02/2020 20:09

Thank you all for your input. I think George Michael was a great musician but I don't really want to call my son after him 🙄 I think the only way we could use the name George is by giving another middle name between the George and the Michael 🙈

Michael Henry is nice- I'm not too sure about using the Michael as a middle name with any of your choices?

Taddda · 06/02/2020 20:22

So George Henry Michael...? That sort of goes?

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 06/02/2020 20:36

George Michael go op, be a devil. Grin

MissingLinker · 06/02/2020 20:41

Yeah, probably can't use George Michael, unfortunately. Henry Michael is the only other one which seems to have any sort of ring to it to me.

TigerBilly · 06/02/2020 22:00

George and Henry are lovely and you can’t really say them differently to how they are spelt but Arthur will get pronounced Arfa.
Albert is also lovely but Bert or Bertie, not so much

Astronica · 06/02/2020 23:28

Hugo is gorgeous and my easy favourite from your list, and Hugo Michael sounds great. I also like George and Henry.
If you don't love any of these why not keep working on your list: have you presented your husband with a list and said it has to be one of these as I'm very stubborn? Maybe you could each make longer lists and see if there's some common ground?

TatianaLarina · 06/02/2020 23:33

Henry or Hugo.

TatianaLarina · 06/02/2020 23:33

I like them all except Hugo which I think is a bit pretentious (very middle class)

What if you are middle class?

Jossina · 07/02/2020 05:56

Albert, nice as a full name and two great nicknames: Bertie and Albie.

Grufallosfriends · 07/02/2020 07:01

I think you need to continue looking until you find a name you both love!

Of these I'd choose Albert.

Grufallosfriends · 07/02/2020 07:01

Actually Michael is even nicer and more unusual nowadays!

Mumma4262 · 07/02/2020 10:47

I love Arthur and George but I don’t think you could have George Michael. Although I’m a massive fan I don’t think it would be a good idea.

So I would say Arthur.

user1333796 · 07/02/2020 10:55

They are all really popular names. I'm not saying you shouldn't pick them because of that, but thought I better risk stating the obvious in case you didn't realise. Most are in the top 10, Albert and Hugo are in the top 50 and still rising fast. Check out Dark Greener names tool if you truly want something 'a little bit unusual'. Don't just roll over and do as your DH says.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 07/02/2020 10:59

Hugo is awful, way too pompous sounding for me.
The others are nice - George my favourite- but very popular, if you want to avoid that.
My suggestions: Charlie, Jacob, Benjamin, Logan, Damian, Drew

Chocolatecake12 · 07/02/2020 11:08

Like pps idea of Benjamin or Jacob

Not keen on your husbands list.

What names do you like? Have you given your dh a list?

Other ideas
Isaac
Joel
Noel
Peter
Thomas
Robert
Samuel
Alexander
William
James
Daniel

AlpacaGoodnight · 07/02/2020 11:29

I like Hugo! I know someone who called their baby George Michael which I do think is odd, especially when the baby's cousin is called the same 2 names as a famous historical figure. Wondering if the 3rd sibling will follow the name trend with their baby!
