Doing a separate thread on this one. What do you think?

It’s nice
I’d probably use it as a middle name though I don’t really like it enough for 1st name

bellinisurge · 06/02/2020 14:14

Sadly it's the name of a baddie in Artemis Fowl. While that might sound a bit niche, a film of the book in which Opal Koboi first appears will be released shortly.
Although I guess that still makes it niche Grin

whimbrel · 06/02/2020 14:21

Fruits?

inwood · 06/02/2020 14:22

Fruit? Buts probably my age.

I quite like it.

Whynosnowyet · 06/02/2020 14:25

Just to let you know apparently Star Burst do intend to change back to Opal Fruits very soon.....

haverhill · 06/02/2020 14:28

Opal Fruits!
Made to make your mouth water!

I quite like Opal. Jaqueline Wilson has a book called Opal Plumstead.

CassandrasCastle · 06/02/2020 14:34

I know that my family would probably break into the made to make your mouth water song upon hearing it...

Loving the insider knowledge of Starburst!! When's the change a comin' 🤔

Forgot about Opal fruits
Yes maybe a middle name

mulkshake · 06/02/2020 15:20

Opal Corsa (the car). Shame it has the car and sweet connector s because it is actually nice

BobbyBlueCat · 06/02/2020 15:24

Depends where in the country you are, I think.

It's not one of those names I think would sound that great with a northern accent (that weak sound on the 'O' they'd use makes it sound not as nice).

I do like the name though.

GeePipe · 06/02/2020 15:24

Is a beautiful name and a beautiful gemstone but only really works if shes born in october (apparently superstition says you cant wear opal if your not october born).

FawnDrench · 06/02/2020 19:12

The reversion to the name Opal Fruits is apparently happening in "late February" according to Google.

Istillgetjealous · 06/02/2020 19:13

Not keen at all. Middle name material

RuthW · 06/02/2020 19:18

I heard that Opal Fruits are coming back, so no, not a good idea.

FleetwoodMacMummy · 06/02/2020 19:23

I don't think I would be brave enough to use it as a first name but i do love it!

Chocolatedaim · 06/02/2020 19:29

I prefer Pearl

Valkarie · 06/02/2020 19:38

I love it, was on my girl name list. I had boys.

Marmitepasta · 06/02/2020 19:46

I live in France and know a couple of Opaline. I think it's nice.

CassandrasCastle · 06/02/2020 22:33

Tbh, I'm weirdly glad about Opal Fruits return - it'll help me narrow down my list 🙈

Deleted message about a baby name??
Shock
Were they asking if your baby was red /orange /purple or green??

TheVanguardSix · 07/02/2020 10:34

Pearl is better, if you're going down this road.
Opal just doesn't have a nice sound. It's a nice meaning but the sound is a bit round and clumsy. Sorry. Sad
Ophelia?
Odine/Audina?

ladycarlotta · 07/02/2020 11:26

I think it's lovely! Very pretty as a first name. The car is spelt Opel and I don't think sharing a name with a sweet will ruin her life. I'd say the stone is equally well known, no?

CassandrasCastle · 07/02/2020 13:48

@Whynosnowyet It was a spam link to some naughty pictures Shock Grin

Maybe somehow related to the name Opal though??? haha
