What's your thoughts on Xander / Zander as a middle name for Lucas? Surname begins with D.

Alexander is a family name on hubby's side and I'm not loving that so was looking at a different version of it.

Xander is a lovely name

A zander is a type of fish

Borodeb · 04/02/2020 21:38

Oh!!, hahaha maybe not a fish name then Confused

Not convinced they run together quite right. The S from Lucas gets a bit stuck when I try and say the Xander.

Lucas Alexander is lovely though.

Hmm good point

Not Xander, please no.

Alexander is such a lovely name he can choose to shorten how he wants. Xander is such a pretentious version of it, really naff.

(And as I keep finding, it autocorrects to Dander too!)

Notso · 04/02/2020 23:37

It flows into Lucazander, which isn't a huge problem as you won't be using them together that much.
I think Alexander Lucas sounds way better though or Lucas Alexander.

Ninkanink · 04/02/2020 23:41

I agree, middle name should never start with the same or similar sound as the last letter of first name as you can’t actually say it properly.

Lucas Alexander is nice.

Frazzled2207 · 04/02/2020 23:47

No because the s of the Lucas joins on to the S sound in Xander.
Lucas Alexander is much better.

Ninkanink · 05/02/2020 11:48

Or, if you really love Xander, you could just reverse the order. Xander Lucas is a good name IMO! - and you could still use Lucas as his actual name even though it’s officially his middle name.

Thanks everyone.

I agree with switching the names. I'm biased though as I have a Xander.

Sorry to be so pretentious and naff Wink
