I want to use the name Albert as a middle name but I'm struggling to find a longer name (3+ syllables) that suites it.
Other boy names we like (haven't loved the sound of these with Albert)

  • Harrison
  • Jeremiah
  • Henry
  • Micah

Honestly though that is a weird way to choose a name. He will mostly be known by his first name so you need a first name that you love. It really doesn't matter whether it "goes" with the middle or not as after a few weeks, no-one will be using the full name (except maybe at his wedding!).

Concentrate on finding a first name then pop Albert in the middle, job done Smile

DS has the middle name Albert. I wouldn't worry too much about how they sound together so long as they don't sound rude or anything like that. Middle names aren't used all that often. Just pick a first name that you love.

Shouldn't you worry more about how the first name and surname go together?!

Nobody ever hears your middle name. I do even gave one.

Whatsyourflava · 04/02/2020 16:36

Yeh agree with all the previous posters here. Albert will never get used. I don’t know most of my best friends middle names, let alone anyone else

If you like Albert why not just use that as a first name

Charis1503 · 04/02/2020 16:50

Middle names are very important to me too. I think its nice to want to include a name of importance to you and its not always possible to have it as a first name ( already one in the family ect, recently deseased ect).

Sometimes a name goesnt "go" with a surname but people still want to i lnclude it.

I once knew someone who wad desperate for the name issac... married a guy with the surname cox... i-suc-cox. Needless to say she used it as one of 2 middle name with no problems.

3 syllables....

Eddison Albert
Oliver Albert
Joshua Albert

2 syllables...

Edwin Albert
Louie Albert
Oscar Albert

The first letter of the surname surely matters? You wouldn't want to give him the initials JAM, BAP, BAD, SAD, MAD, etc. I wouldn't have thought.

hannahfaith · 04/02/2020 17:20

@wowfudge our surname starts with a B which is the main reason we won't use Jeremiah (JAB) or Christopher - which I adore (CAB)

@Whatsyourflava I do love the name Albert and the main reason is that it's a family name. I don't want to have another Albert or Alberta in our family but I want the connection as all the middle names my DH and I have considered are family names (Walter, Charles and Paul are others on our list)

Just an idea, but you could switch the first and middle names around and use the middle name. I have a relative who is ALB instead of LAB and known by the name beginning with L for the same reason.

hannahfaith · 04/02/2020 17:27

In my family middle names are used quite often almost in the vain of a double barreled name. I'm very frequently called Hannah Faith as my siblings are as well with their first and middle names which is why I'm so focused on it flowing nicely with the first name.
