French boys' names that are easy to pronounce

I am expecting a baby in June and I'm really stuck for boys names.

I already have a little boy called Raphael and I just can't think of another name I love as much.

I was very keen on Aubrey but I think it's being used for girls more and more and DH blows hot and cold on it.
I am of French origin and I'd like a name that reflects that and can be easily pronounced in French and English (and won't make his life unbearable in a West Yorkshire comprehensive....)

My husband likes Gabriel (but that would be 2 archangels) and Laszlo (would feel a bit funny as it's neither French nor English)
I like various unsuitable french names...Guillaume especially.

Please help! I'd love to read your suggestions.

I like Thibault.

I don't think Guillaume is difficult to pronounce as it's such a well-known name.

We are a French/English family. Our DS has a name which is rare in both France and England, so we have to tell everyone how to pronounce it 🤦🏻‍♀️

I love the name Maxime, Max for short.
I also know young French boys called:
Basil
Leo
Marcel
Noah
Siméon
Valentin
Victor

Some of the suggestions are very much the wrong generation IMO.

Clément is lovely and Clem is easy for English speakers to pronounce.

I know a little Mathéo, too, which is sweet.

There's Theo/Théo as well but I ruled it out personally because of the different pronunciations of Th.

Double-barrelled first names are surely outdated in France now.

I love Gaëtan (and different spellings).

BabbleBee · 31/01/2020 14:18

Gabriel is fab, Gabe as a nn if needed

NameChange30 · 31/01/2020 14:25

Gaëtan would be teased for a name that sounds like "Gay", you might as well go the whole hog and call him Gaylord!

Camsie30 · 31/01/2020 14:29

I love the name Yves

JoanieCash · 31/01/2020 14:32

I’ve know 3 children called Yves in London in last few years, am sure it’s stealthily on the rise.

HeyPizza · 31/01/2020 14:34

Maxime

Did anyone else watch l'amour est dans le pré? There was an Yves in that who has stayed in my memory Grin

I prefer Yann.

bluenoir · 31/01/2020 14:54

Eric or Fred

bluenoir · 31/01/2020 14:55

Also I love Benoit, DH vetoed it here ☹️

thinsulation · 31/01/2020 15:40

Victor has been a favourite of mine since I was a small girl. My DP is French, and it fits nicely with both of our surnames. Now I just need to hope for a boy, when the time comes! I do also have my favourite albeit, less french, girl names too (but I have always wanted a Victor).

I like Théo, Alexandre, and Léo too. Victor, and the latter two should be quite easy for English speakers too.

BlueBelle81 · 31/01/2020 17:54

Thanks everyone. I think DH and I just need to knuckle down and work through some lists.

Benoit is gorgeous.

Silly question, but I’ve seen Guillaume written but don’t think I’ve heard it, how is it pronounced?
